Plant-specific NAC transcription factors constitute a large family and play important roles in regulating plant developmental processes responses to environmental stresses, but only some of them have been investigated for effects on disease reaction cereal crops. Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) is an effective strategy rapid functional analysis genes tissues. In this study, TaNAC1, encoding new member the NAC1 subgroup, was cloned from bread wheat characterized. It factor localized cell...

Puccinia striiformis Westend. f. sp. tritici (Pst) pathotype CYR34 is widely virulent and prevalent in China. Here, we report identification of a strpie rust resistance (Yr) gene, designated Yr041133, winter wheat line 041133. This produced hypersensitive reaction to conferred 13 other pathotypes. Resistance 041133 was controlled by single dominant gene. Bulked segregant RNA sequencing (BSR-Seq) performed on pair bulks generated pooling resistant susceptible recombinant inbred lines....

Basic leucine zipper (bZIP) membrane-bound transcription factors (MTFs) play important roles in regulating plant growth and development, abiotic stress responses disease resistance. Most bZIP MTFs are key components of signaling pathways endoplasmic reticulum (ER) responses. In this study, a full-length cDNA sequence encoding MTF, designated TabZIP74, was isolated from library wheat near-isogenic line Taichung29*6/Yr10 inoculated with an incompatible race CYR32 Puccinia striiformis f. sp....

Powdery mildew is a key airborne foliar disease of barley in southeastern and southwestern China. Barley varieties usually partially or wholly lose resistance to the pathogen Blumeria graminis (DC.) f. sp. hordei 3 5 years after release due frequent acquirements new virulences population. However, no B. virulence detection has been carried out recent decade and, thus, information available on present components major pathotypes epidemic regions. Twenty-one near-isogenic lines Pallas were...

Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst) is adept at overcoming resistance in wheat cultivars, through variations virulence the western provinces of China. To apply disease management strategies, it essential to understand temporal and spatial dynamics Pst populations. This study aimed evaluate molecular diversity 84 old isolates, comparison 59 newer ones. By using 19 Chinese differentials, we identified 98 pathotypes, showing complexity ranging from 0 16. Associations between 23 Yr gene...

A novel blast-inducible RING-H2 type zinc finger protein gene OsRING-1 was cloned from rice by cDNA library screening. is 1670 bp in length and encodes a 46.6 kDa basic with two transmembrane (TM) domains, domain (BD), conserved (CD), RING serine rich (S-rich) domain. By database search, mapped on chromosome 2 clustered together other six genes. The promoter sequence analysis of revealed that some ABA, GA, ethylene, wound, drought, heat stress pathogen infection responsive elements were...

Spot blotch, caused by the fungal pathogen Cochliobolus sativus, is a limiting factor for barley (Hordeum vulgare) production in northeast China, which causes significant grain yield losses and kernel quality degradation. It critical to determine virulence diversity of C. sativus populations resistance breeding judicious grouping available varieties according predominant pathotypes disease epidemic regions. With little information on this study selected 12 typical genotypes differentiate...

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is one of the major grain legume crops in world. In this study, genetic diversity 24 Australian chickpea cultivars released between 1987 and 2005 was investigated with microsatellite-anchored fragment length polymorphism (MFLP) DNA markers. Among examined, 30 cultivar-specific markers were identified all unequivocally using fingerprints developed study. Most grouped into two clusters; cv. Flipper separated from rest based on total character differences...

Abstract Wheat stripe rust is an important disease and can seriously threaten wheat production. The most economical, safe effective approach to manage this breed deploy resistant varieties. Sifangmai a Chinese landrace maintained adequate resistance the races. In order decipher genetic bases of in Sifangmai, F 1 , 2 2:3 cross Sifangmai/Taichung 29 were tested at adult stage with race CYR32. Genetic analysis revealed that was controlled by single dominant gene named as YrSF . Six SSR on...
