The chemical composition and biological activity of a sample yellow propolis from Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil (EEP-Y MS), were investigated for the first time compared with green, brown, red types Brazilian Cuba. Overall, EEP-Y MS had different qualitative profiles, as well cytotoxic antimicrobial activities when to other assessed in this study it is chemotype propolis. Absence phenolic compounds presence mixtures aliphatic determined by analysing (1)H-NMR spectra fifteen terpenes identified...

Objective . As propolis is a highly valued bee product, we aimed to verify the quality of aged propolis, investigating their phenolic and flavonoid composition, levels toxic metals, radical scavenging antimicrobial activities. Material Methods Samples fresh six different beekeepers, from same geographical location, were investigated in terms composition Pb, Cd, Cr, as well Results The two groups had similar qualitative by HPLC-PDA ESI(-)-MS. Fresh show no differences when average values...

Fractionation of the crude methanol extract ascidian Cystodytes dellechiajei collected in Brazil yielded two novel alkaloids, sebastianine A (1) and B (2). The structures both 1 2 were established by analysis spectroscopic data, indicating an unprecedented ring system for compounds, comprising a pyridoacridine fused with pyrrole unit pyrrolidine condensed α-hydroxyisovaleric acid Both alkaloids displayed cytotoxic profile against panel HCT-116 colon carcinoma cells indicative p53 dependent mechanism.

Tithonia diversifolia is a perennial bushy plant found in South America with significant ethnopharmacological importance as an antimalarial, antidiabetic, antibacterial, and anticancer agent. The aim of the present study was to determine cytotoxicity ethanolic extract from leaves T. (TdE) on human cancer cell lines (HCT-116, SNB-19, NCIH-460 MCF-7), well mechanism action involved death cellular modulation oxidative stress. TdE exhibited activity IC50 values ranging 7.12 38.41 μg/ml, HCT-116...

Propolis biological effects are mainly attributed to its polyphenolic constituents such as flavonoids and phenolic acids that were recently described in the chemical composition of an extract propolis obtained with edible vegetal oil (OEP) by our group. The aim this study was evaluate effect OEP on behavior rats.An vivo open field (OF), elevated Plus-maze (EPM), forced swimming (FS) tests performed locomotor activity, anxiolytic- antidepressant extract. Besides, oxidative stress levels...

Arenosclerins A (2), B (3), and C (4), as well haliclonacyclamine E (1), are new tetracyclic alkylpiperidine alkaloids isolated from a species of marine sponge belonging to the order Haplosclerida, Arenosclera brasiliensis, endemic southeastern Brazilian coast. The were their hydrochloride salts identified by analysis spectroscopic data. Data obtained (1)H-(1)H COSY, HMBC, HSQC-TOCSY NMR experiments allowed complete assignment (1)H (13)C resonances, NOESY ROESY spectra showed that only...

Propolis is a resin produced by bees from raw material collected plants, salivary secretions, and beeswax. New therapeutic properties for the Central Nervous System have emerged. We explored neurobehavioral antioxidant effects of an ethanolic extract yellow propolis (EEYP) rich in triterpenoids, primarily lupeol β ‐amyrin. Male Wistar rats, 3 months old, were intraperitoneally treated with Tween 5% (control), EEYP (1, 3, 10, 30 mg/kg), or diazepam, fluoxetine, caffeine (positive controls)...
