Key discoveries and innovations in the field of human genetics have led to foundation molecular personalized medicine. Here, we present Genome Tunisia Project, a two-phased initiative (2022-2035) which aims deliver reference sequence Tunisian support implementation medicine Tunisia, North African country that represents central hub population admixture migration between African, European, Asian populations. The main goal this is develop healthcare system capable incorporating omics data for...

The coronary artery disease (CAD) is a chronic inflammatory involving genetic as well environmental factors. Recent evidence suggests that the oral microbiome has significant role in triggering atherosclerosis. present study assessed composition variation between patients and healthy subjects order to identify potential pathogenic signature associated with CAD. We performed metagenomic profiling of salivary microbiomes by 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) next-generation sequencing. Oral microbiota...

HER2 has been thought to play a critical role in both breast cancer development and progression. Any functional polymorphisms can potentially affect risk as well phenotype outcome. In our study, we analyzed three the gene: single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) Ile(655)Val another SNP (rs903506) close it new screened dinucleotide repeat H(AC)I4 intron 4, sample of 148 cases 290 controls from Tunisian population investigated their association with risk. For Ile(655)Val, found similar allele...

In semiarid Mediterranean agroecosystems, drought and salinity are the main abiotic stresses hampering wheat productivity yield instability. Abscisic acid, stress, ripening (ASR) small plant proteins play important roles in different biological processes. present study, Tt ASR1 gene was isolated characterized for first time from durum ( Tritucum turgidum L. subsp. ). is a gene, about 684 bp long, located on chromosome 4AL, encoding protein of 136 amino acid residues consisting histidine-rich...

Pathogenic variants in Steroid 5 alpha reductase type 3 (SRD5A3) cause rare inherited congenital disorder of glycosylation known as SRD5A3-CDG (MIM# 612379). To date, 43 affected individuals have been reported. Despite the development various dysmorphic features significant number patients, facial recognition entity has not yet established for SRD5A3-CDG. Herein, we reported a novel SRD5A3 missense pathogenic variant c.460 T > C p.(Ser154Pro). The 3D structural modeling protein revealed...

Gut microbiota and their metabolites play a vital role in colon health disease. Accumulating evidence suggests that the gut contributes to risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, specific microbial community together with contributing risk, initiation progression CRC is still unknown. Hence, we used Bayesian Networks combination IDA (Intervention calculus when DAG absent) generate graphical model allows causal relationships be inferred from observational data. Results analysis publically...

Uridine diphosphate-glucuronosyl transferase 1A1 (UGT1A1), which is the major UGT1 gene product, located on chromosome 2q37. The expression of UGT1A1 relatively managed by a polymorphic dinucleotide repeat inside promoter TATA box consisting 5-8 copies TA repeat. A (TA) 6TAA considered as wild type. 7TAA allele has been identified most frequent in Caucasian populations while 8TAA remains rarest worldwide North Africa, including Arab populations. The spectrum genetic mutations seventeen...

In this study, a sample of 126 Kuwaiti was analysed using 12 Y-chromosome short tandem repeat (STR) polymorphisms. A total 101 different haplotypes were identified, among which 87 individual specific. The high haplotype diversity (0.994) supports the usefulness Y-STR markers in population investigation. Our results suggest close genetic relationship between Kuwait and other populations Arabian Peninsula, an even more pronounced similarity Yemenis Saudi Arabians.
