Doped and wired: The organization of the π functional units in amide-functionalized tetrathiafulvalene a gel by hydrogen-bonding interactions has given rise to nanofibers. Doping with iodine generates conducting material, which upon annealing gives nanowires metal-like conductivity (see current-sensing AFM image). Five interlocked rings in a linear arrangement form the familiar symbol of Olympic Games and also describe olympiadane, [5]catenane which was assembled from eight components two steps at ambient temperature pressure. This self-assembly process is possible as sufficient molecular recognition programmed into components. The fragmentation patterns mass spectrum 1H NMR support structure shown schematically on right.
Deposition of a porphyrin onto metallic copper followed by heating leads to an unprecedented type linking the molecules giving mixture covalent multiporphyrin nanostructures at surface.
The two-dimensional self-assembly of a terbium(III) double-decker phthalocyanine on highly oriented pyrolitic graphite (HOPG) was studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM), and it shown that forms regular rectangular nanocrystals the surface, are aligned with symmetry axes, in which molecules organized lattice as scanning tunneling microscopy. Molecular dynamics simulations were run order to model behavior collection complexes HOPG. results excellent agreement experiment, showing that—after...
The controlled preparation of chiral structures is a contemporary challenge for supramolecular science because the interesting properties that can arise from resulting materials, and here we show synthetic nonamphiphilic C(3) compound containing π-functional tetrathiafulvalene units form this kind object. We describe synthesis, characterization, self-assembly in solution solid state enantiopure materials. Circular dichroism (CD) measurements optical activity presence twisted stacks...
A terbium double-decker phthalocyanine complex has been prepared and characterized. The mesomorphism of the liquid-crystalline is used as a tool to reversibly adjust its magnetic properties, thus allowing coexistence two different relaxation processes, which can be modified by simple thermal treatments, observed. Detailed facts importance specialist readers are published "Supporting Information". Such documents peer-reviewed, but not copy-edited or typeset. They made available submitted...
The direct coupling of complex, functional organic molecules at a surface is one the outstanding challenges in road map to future molecular devices. Equally demanding meet this challenge without recourse additional functionalization building blocks and via clean reactions that leave no contamination. Here, we demonstrate directional unfunctionalized porphyrin molecules--large aromatic multifunctional blocks--on single crystal copper surface, which generates highly oriented one-dimensional...
This work describes the formation of high quality fibres a covalent organic framework (COF) under microfluidic conditions.
Polymer thin films that emit and absorb circularly polarised light have been demonstrated with the promise of achieving important technological advances; from efficient, high-performance displays, to 3D imaging all-organic spintronic devices. However, origin large chiroptical effects in such has, until now, remained elusive. We investigate emergence phenomena achiral polymers blended a chiral small-molecule additive (1-aza[6]helicene) intrinsically chiral-sidechain using combination...
Abstract Quantum biological tunnelling for electron transfer is involved in controlling essential functions life such as cellular respiration and homoeostasis. Understanding the quantum effects biology has potential to modulate functions. Here we merge wireless nano-electrochemical tools with cancer cells control over trigger cell death. Gold bipolar nanoelectrodes functionalized redox-active cytochrome c a redox mediator zinc porphyrin are developed electric-field-stimulating bio-actuators,...
Magnetic avalanches: A chiral polymeric manganese(II) complex with an enantiopure nitronyl nitroxide ligand (see structure of repeating unit; red: oxygen, green: nitrogen, blue: manganese) shows unusual magnetic behavior. The polymer orders magnetically in the bulk at 3 K, and reveals dynamic hysteretic effects as well a remarkable avalanche phenomenon below 0.3 K.
The construction of catenanes, comprised between two and seven interlocked rings, has been achieved. Two tris-1,5-naphtho-57-crown-15 macrocycles template the formation cyclobis(paraquat-4,4'-biphenylene) to give a [3]catenane, which acts as for one then another cyclobis(paraquat-p-phenylene) [4]- [5]catenane (Olympiadane). When high pressure was used in these templated syntheses, [6]- [7]catenane, well that is topologically isomeric with Olympiadane, were also obtained. X-ray analyses [3]-,...

The hysteresis of magnetization the anionic, neutral, and cationic forms a bis(phthalocyaninato)terbium-based complex ([Pc2Tb]−/0/+) have been determined using magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy in frozen dilute solutions at low temperatures (1.5 K) showing that three oxidation states exhibit single-molecule behaviors.
A synthetic strategy was developed for the preparation of porphyrins containing between one and four stereogenic centers, such that their molecular weights vary only as a result methyl groups which give chiral forms. The low-dimensional nanoscale aggregates these compounds reveal profound effects this varying chirality on supramolecular structure optical activity. number centers influences significantly self-assembly porphyrin molecules described here. scanning tunneling microscopy study...
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are considered useful vehicles for medical therapy and diagnosis.
