The surgical treatment of severe and rigid spinal deformities poses difficulties dangers. In this article, the authors summarize their techniques evaluate patient outcomes after performing posterior vertebral column resection (PVCR) for correction with curves greater than 100°, investigate crucial points to ensure neurological safety during challenging procedure. The retrospectively reviewed experience 28 patients extremely (Cobb angles in coronal or sagittal plane > 100°) thoracic...

Objective To study the therapeutic effect and mechanism of action quercetin in a rat model osteoarthritis (OA). Methods The OA was established by intra-articular injection papain. Changes knee diameter, toe volume histopathology were measured. Levels interleukin (IL)-β tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α assessed ELISA. Relative expression Toll-like receptor (TLR)-4 nuclear kappa-light-chain-enhancer activated B cells (NF-κB) evaluated western blotting. Results Compared with rats treated papain...

A retrospective study. To investigate whether proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) or obvious angle (PJA) changes in the sagittal plane develops following short fusion children younger than 10 years of age with congenital scoliosis, and to possible risk factors.PJK long spinal adolescents adults is a serious postoperative complication. Although same problem may occur patients early-onset scoliosis who have undergone spine fusion, few studies been reported any relationship between PJK young...

Infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa have become a major public health crisis. Its resistance to existing antibiotics causes clinical infections that are hard cure. In this study, we found halogenated indoles in combination with aminoglycoside could be more effective than alone against P. PAO1 and preliminarily revealed the mechanism of 4F-indole-induced regulatory effect.

Phase contrast-cine MRI (PC-cine MRI) studies in patients with syringomyelia and Chiari malformation Type I (CM-I) have demonstrated abnormal CSF flow across the foramen magnum, which can revert to normal after craniocervical decompression syrinx shrinkage. In order investigate mechanisms leading postoperative shrinkage, authors studied hydrodynamic changes of junction spinal canal scoliosis associated one-stage deformity correction by posterior vertebral column resection.Preoperative...

Retrospective study. To analyze the perioperative major non-neurological complications (MNNCs) in posterior vertebral column resection (PVCR) procedures for severe rigid deformities and to identify factors that may increase risk.Although surgeons constantly attempted corrective efficacy neurological safety after PVCR, there are still significant risks of potentially life-threatening complications.A total 105 consecutive patients with deformity who underwent 1-stage PVCR at a single center...

Posterior vertebral column resection (PVCR) is an effective alternative for treating rigid and severe spinal deformities. Accurate placement of pedicle screws, especially apically, crucial. As morphologic evaluations thoracic pedicles have not provided objective criteria, we propose a classification deformities.A consecutive series 56 patients with deformities who underwent PVCR at single institution were reviewed retrospectively. Altogether, 1098 screws inserted into T2-T12. Based on the...

Using superintense 46-fs Ti:sapphire laser pulses, high-order harmonic generation in argon gaseous medium is experimentally studied. When the driving intensity pushed well above ionization threshold (saturation intensity) of applied, double-peak spectral splitting high harmonics has been clearly observed. This mainly due to propagation effects rapidly ionizing medium, which verified by means one-dimensional calculations. The numerical simulations agree with experimental results.
