Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) is characterized by a phenotypic switch of valvular interstitial cells to bone-forming cells. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are evolutionarily conserved pattern recognition at the interface between innate immunity and tissue repair. Type I interferons (IFNs) not only crucial for an adequate antiviral response but also implicated in bone formation. We hypothesized that accumulation endogenous TLR3 ligands leaflets may promote generation osteoblast-like...

Abstract Aims Cardiac shockwave therapy (SWT) improves left ventricular (LV) function in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy. Shockwave activates Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3), a receptor-inducing chromatin remodelling and nuclear reprogramming of cardiac cells. We hypothesized that mechanical activation TLR3 facilitates fibroblasts towards endothelial cells restoring myocardial perfusion function. Methods results Human were treated by stimulation via SWT or agonist Poly(I:C) the presence...

Objective In patients with complex coronary artery disease (CAD) undergoing cardiac surgery, myocardial protection might be impaired due to microvascular obstruction, resulting in injury and subsequent biomarker release. Therefore, this study investigated the correlation between complexity of CAD, reflected by SYNTAX Score, release biomarkers after CABG. Methods a consecutive series 919 isolated CABG scores I II were calculated assess CAD. Levels high sensitivity troponin T (hs-cTnT)...

Background: With 1.4 billion people worldwide affected by elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] concentrations, it has emerged as a critical player in the realm of cardiovascular health. Lp(a) is an established independent risk factor for coronary heart disease and became recently recognized aortic valve stenosis. This study aims to investigate impact on long-term outcomes following cardiac surgery.

Abstract Background Elevated levels of N-terminal prohormone brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) reflect cardiac status in heart failure patients and are independently associated with mortality adverse cardiovascular outcomes elective undergoing non-cardiac surgery. However, there is scarce evidence about the association between NT-proBNP outcome after surgery large patient populations. Purpose The aim this study was to analyze preoperative NT-pro-BNP 30-day five-year Methods A consecutive...

Abstract OBJECTIVES Myocardial hypertrophy results in increased levels of cardiac biomarkers healthy individuals and patients suffering from acute myocardial infarction. The influence mass on postoperative release remains unclear. This study investigated the correlation between high-sensitivity Troponin T (hs-cTnT) creatine kinase-myocardial band (CK-MB) after isolated aortic valve replacement (AVR) or bypass surgery. METHODS a consecutive retrospective series was measured automatically...

Introduction: Celiac disease (CD) is a vastly underdiagnosed malady due to its extremely variable clinical presentation. The diagnosis of CD requires invasive measures including serological testing specific antibodies and jejunal biopsy. A noninvasive test would help increase the detection rate this hitherto all too often unrecognized disease. Methods: 34 subjects (age 0.9 – 19.2 yrs) suspected having celiac because failure thrive were tested for tissue transglutaminase- endomysial (stTGA...
