The amino acid sequence of triosephosphate isomerase from Trypanosoma brucei , cruzi and Leishmania mexicana have an identity 68 %. Using the numbering system for T. enzyme, in their aligned sequences, leishmanial enzymes cysteine residues at positions 14, 40, 117 126. has 40 126, a valine residue position 117. Dithionitrobenzoic methylmethane thiosulfonate inhibited three enzymes, but was more than 100‐fold sensitive. sensitivity wild type to reagents equal that Cys117Val Val117Cys mutant...

The gene that encodes for triosephosphate isomerase from Trypanosoma cruzi was cloned and sequenced. In T. cruzi, there is only one isomerase. enzyme has an identity of 72% 68% with brucei Leishmania mexicana, respectively. active site residues are conserved: out the 32 conform interface dimeric brucei, 29 conserved in enzyme. expressed Escherichia coli purified to homogeneity. Data electrophoretic analysis under denaturing techniques filtration showed a homodimer. Some its structural...

Taenia solium cysticercosis is a health problem in underdeveloped and developed countries. Sex hormones are involved prevalence female male pigs. Here, we evaluated the effects of progesterone its antagonist RU486 on scolex evagination, which initial step development adult worm. Interestingly, increased T. evagination worm growth, concentration-independent pattern. Progesterone could be mediated by novel receptor (TsPR), since inhibits both induced progesterone. Using RT-PCR western blot,...

SUMMARY Human amoebiasis is a disease produced by infection with the protozoan Entamoeba histolytica currently affecting many millions of people worldwide. Amoebic colitis most common clinical manifestation. Host protective immunity involves participation both humoral and cellular responses. However, mechanisms involved in immune evasion are not clear remain under investigation. One these could be associated ability parasite proteases to modulate or interfere inflammation process, which...

A plasmid vector carrying the immunoprotective amino-terminal fragment of Taenia solium paramyosin (VW2-1) was designed for genetic vaccination studies. Mice that were genetically immunized with VW2-1 and challenged by intraperitoneal inoculation crassiceps cysticerci showed 43 to 48% reductions in parasite burden, values which similar obtained previously when recombinant protein used.

Calreticulin is an endoplasmic reticulum protein involved in the homeostasis of intracellular Ca and other physiological processes. A complementary DNA clone containing complete coding sequence Taenia solium calreticulin (TsCRT) was isolated characterized. Recombinant TsCRT expressed bacteria as a 50-kDa that specifically bound calcium when tested radioassay. The deduced amino acid has 47–50% identity with reported calreticulins. Poor recognition by human pig sera confirmed cysticercosis...

The effects of testosterone (T4) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on the survival helminth cestode parasite Taenia crassiceps, as well their actin, tubulin myosin expression assembly into excretory system flame cells are described in this paper. In vitro evaluations viability, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, video-microscopy live cells, docking experiments androgens interacting with tubulin, were conducted. Our results show that T4 DHT reduce T. crassiceps viability a dose- time-dependent...

The intraperitoneal cysticercosis model with the Taenia crassiceps ORF strain in female BALB/cAnN mice has been widely used to study immune response cysticercosis. During early infection (2 weeks), host develops a non-permissive Th1 response, whereas during late (8 molecules from cysticerci induce Th2 that is permissive parasite growth. modulation of induced by excreted/secreted larval stage parasite. However, there limited information regarding mouse immunological environment infection....

Toxocariasis is a zoonotic disease produced by ingestion of larval Toxocara spp. eggs. Prolactin (PRL) has been considered to have an important role in canis infection. Recent evidence found that PRL directly can increase parasite growth and differentiation T. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine disruptor of estrogenic nature. During the early stages development, any exposure to BPA can have long-term effects. In this work, we study potential alterations humoral antitumor immune (IgM) response in adult life after a single neonatal BPA. Female syngeneic BALB/c mice were exposed dose 250 μg/kg. Once sexual maturity was reached, breast tumor induced. After 25 days, serum obtained, and populations B cells spleen lymph nodes analyzed by flow cytometry....
