To develop an evidence-based guideline for Peer Review of Electronic Search Strategies (PRESS) systematic reviews (SRs), health technology assessments, and other evidence syntheses. An SR, Web-based survey experts, consensus development forum were undertaken to identify checklists that evaluated or validated electronic literature search strategies determine which their elements related quality errors.Systematic review: No new identified addition the existing (2008-2010) PRESS 2015...

Literature searches underlie the foundations of systematic reviews and related review types. Yet, literature searching component types is often poorly reported. Guidance for search reporting has been diverse, and, in many cases, does not offer enough detail to authors who need more specific information about methods sources a clear, reproducible way. This document presents PRISMA-S (Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Meta-Analyses extension) checklist, explanation elaboration.

Systematic reviews (SRs) have become increasingly popular to a wide range of stakeholders. We set out capture representative cross-sectional sample published SRs and examine them in terms broad epidemiological, descriptive, reporting characteristics, including emerging aspects not previously examined. We searched Medline for indexed during November 2004 written English. Citations were screened those meeting our inclusion criteria retained. Data collected using 51-item data collection form...

Background: Systematic reviews are often advocated as the best source of evidence to guide clinical decisions and health care policy, yet we know little about extent which they require updating. Objective: To estimate average time changes in that sufficiently important warrant updating systematic reviews. Design: Survival analysis 100 quantitative Sample: published from 1995 2005 indexed ACP Journal Club. Eligible evaluated a specific drug or class drug, device, procedure included only...

Background Systematic reviews (SRs) can help decision makers interpret the deluge of published biomedical literature. However, a SR may be limited use if methods used to conduct are flawed, and reporting is incomplete. To our knowledge, since 2004 there has been no cross-sectional study prevalence, focus, completeness SRs across different specialties. Therefore, aim was investigate epidemiological characteristics more recent cross-section SRs. Methods Findings We searched MEDLINE identify...

Updating of systematic reviews is generally more efficient than starting all over again when new evidence emerges, but to date there has been no clear guidance on how do this. This helps authors reviews, commissioners, and editors decide update a review, then go about updating the review.
