The increased rate of resistance among two highly concerned pathogens i.e. methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) necessitates the discovery novel anti-MRSA anti-VRE compounds. In microbial drug discovery, Streptomyces are well known source two-thirds natural antibiotics used clinically. Hence, screening new strains streptomycetes is key step to get bioactive compounds with antimicrobial activity against resistant bacteria.

Abstract Background Early blight (EB), caused by Alternaria solani , is one of the alarming diseases that restrict tomato production globally. Existing cultural practices and fungicide applications are not enough to control early diseases. Therefore, study aimed isolate, identify, characterize an endophytic Streptomyces exhibiting potential in also promote plant growth. Abstract Meloidogyne spp. are microscopic, obligatory endoparasites with worldwide distribution which cause severe damage to agricultural crops. The present study revealed the nematicidal activity of Streptomyces antibioticus strain M7 against incognita . culture supernatant isolate caused 100% J2 mortality after 24 h and inhibited egg hatching (only 3%). In addition, actinomycins V, X 2 D purified from was also checked. vitro studies displayed 97.0–99.0% juvenile 28.0–44.0% 168 at 240 µg/ml...

Abstract Phosphorus (P) recycling from wastewater can reduce the reliance on primary source for P fertilisers―rock phosphate reserves. In light of this, we compared effects struvite (ST), a sparingly soluble product derived wastewater, and readily KH 2 PO 4 (KP) chickpea ( Cicer arietinum L.) wheat Triticum aestivum growth acquisition. Plants were grown in temperature-controlled glasshouse plastic pots containing soil mixture with low availability, ST or KP applied at five rates (7, 14, 28,...

Fungal phytopathogens and drug-resistant bacteria are two significant challenges in agriculture public health, respectively. As a result, new sources of antimicrobial compounds urgently needed. Taking into consideration these aspects, the present study was carried out to explore activity Streptomyces sp. SP5 against bacteria, especially methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin Enterococcus fungal phytopathogens. MRSA VRE both types antibiotic-resistant that pose health....

Abstract Background and aims This study investigated whether root traits at the seedling stage are maintained flowering in two chickpea ( Cicer arietinum ) genotypes with contrasting morphology physiology; genotype greater rhizosheath carboxylates mobilises more poorly-available phosphorus (P) pools to increase shoot P flowering/podding seed yield maturity. Methods Two were grown a low soil or without addition (0 40 µg g −1 as KH 2 PO 4 under controlled glasshouse conditions harvested...
