Background Excellent adherence to tuberculosis (TB) treatment is critical cure TB and avoid the emergence of resistance. Wirelessly observed therapy (WOT) a novel patient self-management system consisting an edible ingestion sensor (IS), external wearable patch, paired mobile device that can detect digitally record medication ingestions. Our study determined accuracy detection in clinical home settings using WOT subsequently compared, randomized control trial (RCT), confirmed daily persons...

We present a robust, cost-effective (<2000 USD), and portable optical diffuse speckle pulsatile flowmetry (DSPF) device with flexible handheld probe for deep tissue blood flow measurement in the human foot as well first-in-man observational clinical study using proposed ischemia assessment peripheral artery disease (PAD) diagnosis. Blood is inherently nature. However, most conventional methods cannot measure tissue-level noninvasively. The can ∼6 mm underneath skin surface. A new...

After exposure to a teacher with multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, 31 children developed latent infection. Twenty-six were treated levofloxacin and pyrazinamide. Twelve required change in therapy secondary adverse effects. The most common effects included abdominal pain, arthralgias/myalgias elevated transaminases. All reported at least 1 effect. Fifteen completed treatment. transient.

Tuberculosis (TB) and COVID-19 are respiratory diseases that disproportionately occur among medically underserved populations; little is known about their epidemiologic intersection. To characterize persons diagnosed with TB in California. This cross-sectional analysis of population-based public health surveillance data assessed the sociodemographic, clinical, characteristics California residents who were (including cases reported between September 3, 2019, December 31, 2020) confirmed based...

Abstract We assessed tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic delays among patients with TB and COVID-19 in California, USA. Among 58 persons, 43% experienced delays, a high proportion (83%) required hospitalization for TB. Even when viral respiratory pathogens circulate widely, timely workup at-risk persons remains critical reducing TB-related illness.

For 94 patients with culture-positive pulmonary tuberculosis, time-to-detection (TTD), acid-fast bacilli (AFB) smear, and nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) results were reviewed. All 12 whose first specimen was negative by AFB smear NAAT had prolonged TTD, indicating low transmissibility supporting discontinuing isolation for low-risk patients. A key strategy to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in the United States is increase latent infection (LTBI) screening, testing, and treatment among non-US-born Asian populations. The purpose was LTBI at a community clinic.Retrospective baseline data were retrieved through electronic medical record review. Interventions included adoption of standardized TB risk assessment, training providers use shorter regimens, care coordinator. Chart abstraction examine outcomes conducted postintervention 4...
