Abstract MR thermometry offers the possibility to precisely guide high‐intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for noninvasive treatment of kidney and liver tumours. The objectives this study were demonstrate therapy guidance by motion‐compensated, rapid volumetric temperature monitoring evaluate feasibility MR‐guided HIFU ablation in these organs. Fourteen sonications performed five pigs under general anaesthesia using an MR‐compatible Philips platform prototype. sonication power duration...

Fractal geometry measures the morphology of brain and detects CNS damage. We aimed to assess longitudinal changes on brain's fractal its predictive value for disease worsening in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). prospectively analyzed 146 consecutive relapsing-remitting MS up 5 years clinical MRI (3 T) assessments. The dimension lacunarity were calculated regions using box-counting methods. Longitudinal mixed-effect models risk disability accumulation assessed Cox Proportional Hazard...

Thermotherapies can now be guided in real-time using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This technique is rapidly gaining importance interventional therapies for abdominal organs such as liver and kidney. An accurate online estimation characterization of organ displacement mandatory to prevent misregistration correct motion related thermometry artifacts. In addition, when the ablation performed with an extracorporal heating device high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), continuous basis...

Abstract MR‐thermometry allows monitoring of the local temperature evolution during minimally invasive interventional therapies. However, for particular case in human breast, magnetic field variations induced by respiratory cycle lead to phase fluctuations requiring a suitable correction strategy prevent thermometry errors. For this purpose look‐up‐table‐based multibaseline approach as well model‐based algorithm were applied correct periodic changes. The proposed method is compatible with...

MR‐guided high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has evolved into a promising non‐invasive technique for the ablation of pathological tissue in abdominal organs. However, since perfusion rates these organs lead to effective cooling, sustained sonications 30–90 s are required achieve sufficiently temperature elevation induce necrosis. This is complicated by constant displacement target due respiratory cycle. study proposes sub‐second 3D HIFU‐beam steering under MR‐guidance near real‐time...

Real-time magnetic resonance (MR) thermometry provides continuous temperature mapping inside the human body and is therefore a promising tool to monitor control interventional therapies based on thermal ablation. Temperature information must be mapped reference position of observed organs in order allow dose computation, as history required for each pixel. Motion compensated MR-thermometry thermotherapy has cope with radio-frequency (RF) artifacts relaxation-time changes monitored tissue....

Biological neural systems are powerful, robust and highly adaptive computational entities that outperformconventional computers in almost all aspects of sensory-motor integration. Despite dramatic progress ininformation technology, there is a big performance discrepancy between artificial systemsand brains seemingly simple orientation navigation tasks. In this work, a method for the optimization of volumetric MR‐guided high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablations is presented. We propose to monitor thermal dose in target area ensure complete destruction tumor tissue. A trajectory ablation points optimized based on energy distribution measured by PRFS‐based MR thermometry. The combination with 3D motion correction technique including tracking focal point position allows an effective tissue minimal energy, time and damage outside area....

This study compares several state-of-the-art regularization methods applicable to aortic aneurysm segmentation likelihood maps provided by a Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN). These algorithms vary from simple Otsu's thresholding and K-Means clustering, more complex Level-sets Conditional Random Fields.
