Objective: Case series and follow-up studies suggest that clozapine may have mood-stabilizing properties in addition to antipsychotic action patients with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type, I but the generalizability of these findings is limited. This article describes a randomized, open study add-on therapy versus treatment as usual for treatment-resistant illness history mania. Method: Thirty-eight meeting DSM-IV criteria or disorder was deemed were randomly assigned (N=19) (no...

Abstract Twelve patients were treated with omadacycline (OMC) as part of a multidrug regimen for Mycobacterium abscessus. The majority infections pulmonary origin (7/12; 58.3%). median (interquartile range) duration OMC was 6.2 (4.2–11.0) months. Clinical success occurred in 9/12 (75.0%) patients. Three experienced possible adverse effect while on therapy.

Uncontrolled hypertension is a risk factor of heart attack, stroke, dementia, and other conditions. In outpatients with hypertension, blood pressure (BP) may be controlled at only 30%-50% visits depending on the population studied. Hospital admission ideal for achieving guideline-directed BP targets, given resource-intensive environment. We evaluated relationship between control performance during neurocritical care hospital rates uncontrolled discharge over subsequent 2 years. This...

Abstract Purpose Numerous clinical scoring tools exist for a variety of patient populations and disease states, but few provide information specifically designed use by critical care pharmacists. The medication regimen complexity–intensive unit (MRC-ICU) score was to high-level about the complexity critically ill patients’ regimens To date, implementation this in electronic medical record (EMR) has not been reported. Summary Using an agile project management framework, MRC-ICU rapidly...

Antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria have been associated with substantial morbidity and mortality limited treatment options available. Omadacycline (OMC) is an aminomethylcycline antibiotic that has shown to exhibit broad in vitro activity against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Given the lack of real-world data, primary objective our report was describe early experience OMC for resistant infections. This a real-world, multicenter, observational cases series/pilot study conducted USA....

Objectives: Research has demonstrated that beliefs or expectancies can exert a powerful influence on treatment and/or drug effects. As patients participate in more complementary alternative treatments for psychiatric conditions, it is important to assess the role of belief expectancy response nontraditional approaches. The Acupuncture Beliefs Scale was developed efficacy acupuncture both physical and symptoms conditions. Development psychometric properties scale are described. Design...

Abstract Background and Objectives Valproate has wide pharmacokinetic variability a narrow therapeutic index. Its protein binding is unpredictable, particularly among critically ill patients who may experience unexpectedly elevated free concentrations. We sought to identify the clinical consequences determinants of occult valproate toxicity in adults. Abstract Objective Intravenous (IV) push (IVP) is an alternative administration method for levetiracetam, but evidence evaluating it compared to IV piggyback (IVPB) loading doses in acutely seizing patients limited, particularly with status epilepticus (SE). This study aimed compare the efficiency and safety of IVP versus IVPB levetiracetam doses. Methods was a single‐center sequential retrospective conducted adult (≥18 years) who received dose (>2000 mg or ≥20 mg/kg) acute suspected...
