Binding of the iminium and alkanolamine forms benzophenanthridine anticancer alkaloid sanguinarine to hemoglobin (Hb) was investigated by absorbance, fluorescence, circular dichroism spectral techniques, calorimetry. The binding affinity charged found be order 106 M–1, higher one than that neutral alkanolamine, from analysis absorbance data. fluorescence data revealed quenching Hb both is due formation a complex in ground state an unusual, static nature. Thermodynamic form exothermic nature...
Berberine, palmatine and coralyne, the isoquinoline alkaloids distributed in many botanical families, are extensively investigated due to their potential therapeutic actions clinical utilities. In this work, binding characteristics hemoglobin (Hb) were studied by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence circular dichroism isothermal calorimetric titration differential scanning techniques. The results indicated that all three caused strong quenching of Hb static mechanism, but with...
Recent advancement in nucleic acid techniques inside cells demands the knowledge of stability structures molecular crowding. The nearest-neighbor model has been successfully used to predict thermodynamic parameters for formation duplexes, with significant accuracy a dilute solution. However, about applicability crowding is still limited. To determine and stabilities DNA duplexes cell-like crowded environment, we systematically investigated validity Watson–Crick self-complementary duplex were...
Sanguinarine is a benzophenanthridine plant alkaloid with remarkable therapeutic utility. In this article the photochemical and nucleic acid binding properties of putative anticancer agent reviewed.
The study addresses interpretation of the various physicochemical properties inclusion complexes anticancer plant alkaloid sanguinarine with natural cyclodextrins.
Micelle-assisted "deintercalation" of intercalated drug/mutagen molecules from DNA is a well-established phenomenon; however, the driving energy cost for such process still not properly understood. In present contribution, we have estimated various energetic parameters SDS micelle-assisted deintercalation model intercalator phenosafranine (PSF) using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) measurement. Both steady-state and picosecond-resolved fluorescence measurements provide strong evidence...

Abstract Photoinduced electron transfer (PET) from N‐methylaniline (NMA) to a photoexcited CdTe quantum dot (QD*) is studied in toluene. The PET mechanism at low moderate quencher concentrations (<0.08 M) remains mostly collisional with some contributions QD‐NMA complex formation. However, high (>0.10 M), QDs form larger numbers of static complexes NMA molecules leading steep positive deviation the steady‐state Stern–Volmer curves. An isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) study...
Abstract Bimolecular photoinduced electron transfer (PET) from excited state CdTe quantum dot (QD*) to an deficient molecule 2,4‐dinitrotoluene (DNT) is studied in toluene. We observed two types of QD‐DNT complex formations; (i) non‐emissive complex, which DNT embedded deep inside the surface polymer layer QD and (ii) emissive molecules are attached QDs but approach core shielded by layer. Because its nature, lifetime not affected dark formation, though steady‐state emission greatly...
We show that low temperature specific heat (C$_p$) of the incommensurate chain-ladder system Sr$_{14}$Cu$_{24}$O$_{41}$ is enriched by presence a rather large excess contribution non-magnetic origin. Diluted Al doping at Cu site or annealing crystal in an O$_2$ atmosphere suppresses this feature considerably. Using THz time-domain spectroscopy, we occurrence associated with very low-energy ($\sim$ 1 meV) gapped phonon modes originate due to sliding motion oppositely charged mutually chain...
We provide spectroscopic evidence for the charge density wave (CDW) phason mode at ≈0.93 THz in two-leg, spin-1/2 ladders of Sr14Cu24O41 using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. find that annealing an oxygen atmosphere or doping with a low concentration Co (≾1%) does not affect CDW mode. However, higher concentrations (10%), wherein enters ladder layers, destabilizes CDW. believe suppression phase is due to increase intraladder overlap integrals through shrinkage interplane distance upon doping.

A planar Fabry-Perot cavity with inter-mirror spacing significantly shorter than the probing wavelength is explored for its "zero-order mode" terahertz transmission. The enhanced transmission observed as d approaches 0 indicates that such cavities satisfy resonance condition across a broad bandwidth. experimental signatures from this elusive, "technically challenging" regime are evidenced using time-domain spectroscopy and complemented by numerical calculations. results raise intriguing...
