Four new and five known sesquiterpenoids were isolated from the agarwood of Aquilaria malaccensis. Aquilanols A B (1 2) have an unprecedented macrocyclic humulene structure with a bicyclic 7/10 ring system. Compound 2 was obtained as scalemic mixture that resolved by HPLC analysis using chiral column. Their structures deduced based on spectroscopic data analysis, absolute configurations unambiguously determined X-ray crystallographic ECD analysis. putative biosynthetic pathway these is proposed.

The therapeutic potential of adiponectin regulation has received interest because its association with diverse human disease conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, and cancer. Phenylethylchromone derivatives from Aquilaria malaccensis-derived agarwood promoted secretion during adipogenesis in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, 5,6-dihydroxy-2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone (1) was identified a new chromone derivative. A target identification study the most potent...

AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) plays a crucial role in the regulation of energy homeostasis both peripheral metabolic organs and central nervous system. Recent studies indicated that p-Coumaric acid (CA), hydroxycinnamic phenolic acid, potentially activated AMPK pathway to exert beneficial effects on glucose metabolism vitro. However, CA’s actions activity whole-body have not yet been investigated. Here, we reported CA exhibited different activation vitro vivo. Specifically, while...

Panax vietnamensis (PV), a wild species discovered in Vietnam 1973, has been increasingly overexploited due to its economic value and therapeutic uses. This resulted the development of PV cultivation meet market demand. There is little information on accumulation saponins during cultivation, but this could serve as an indication appropriate harvest time. In study we developed HPLC-UV/ELSD method simultaneously determine content 10 characteristic from 2–7 years old, including G-Rb1, G-Rd,...

Agarperoxinols A and B (1-2), two naturally occurring humulene-type sesquiterpenoids with an unprecedented tricyclic 6/6/7 ring, were discovered from the agarwood of Aquilaria malaccensis. Their structures unambiguously determined by various spectroscopic data, experimental ECD calculations, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Agarperoxinol showed significant dose-dependent neuroinflammatory inhibitory effects on proinflammatory mediators, including NO, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, suppressed...

Cimicifuga dahurica has traditionally been used as an antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory agent a treatment for uterine anal prolapse. This study investigated the potential beneficial effects of this medicinal plant its components on Alzheimer's disease (AD) with focus amyloid beta (Aβ) production scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice. An ethanol extract from C. roots decreased Aβ APP-CHO cells [Chinese hamster ovarian (CHO) stably expressing precursor protein (APP)],...

The Aquilaria genus, consisting of 14 species trees which belong to Thymelaeaceae, is mainly distributed in the rainforest Southeast Asia and India [1]. Several this genus produce a dark aromatic resin response insects, physical cut, microbial infections, or chemical stimulation [2, 3]. resin-deposited heartwood known as agarwood, has long been used incense, sedative, analgesic, digestive herbal medicine [4, 5]. We studied constituents agarwood from A. malaccensis. As result, we isolated...
