SARS-CoV-2 and its variants continue to infect hundreds of thousands every day despite the rollout effective vaccines. Therefore, it is essential understand levels protection that these vaccines provide in face emerging variants. Here, we report two demographically balanced cohorts BNT162b2 vaccine recipients COVID-19 patients, from which evaluate neutralizing antibody titers against as well B.1.1.7 (alpha) B.1.351 (beta) We show both are less neutralized by serum vaccinated individuals,...

Abstract Among 1038 participants with pulmonary Mycobacterium avium complex and 120 abscessus enrolled in the US Bronchiectasis NTM Research Registry, less than half received antibiotic therapy 24 months before registry enrollment, of which were guideline based. Adverse effects occurred 21% recipients, whom 33% discontinued therapy.

Oral fluids offer a noninvasive sampling method for the detection of Abs. Quantification IgA and IgG Abs in saliva allows studies mucosal systemic immune response after natural infection or vaccination. We developed validated an enzyme immunoassay (EIA) to detect quantify salivary against prefusion-stabilized form severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spike protein expressed suspension-adapted HEK-293 cells. Normalization total Ab isotype was performed account specimen...

Abstract Background Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (SAB) is a common bloodstream infection with mortality rate of 20-30%. SAB frequently associated deep-seated foci (DSFI) for which IDSA/ESCMID draft guidelines propose using clinical features early in evaluation to risk stratify DSFI. However, literature combinations identify DSFI limited, and the best process variable selection not defined. We explored methods combination predictive accuracy identifying Methods 242 adults admitted 500-bed...

Abstract We tested human sera from large, demographically balanced cohorts of BNT162b2 vaccine recipients (n=51) and COVID-19 patients (n=44) for neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 variants B.1.1.7 B.1.351. Although the effect is more pronounced in cohort, both B.1.351 show significantly reduced levels neutralization by vaccinated convalescent sera. Age negatively correlated with vaccinee, variant-specific RBD are proportional to activities.

The unprecedented severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has called for substantial investigations into the capacity of human immune system to protect against reinfection and keep pace with evolution SARS-CoV-2. We evaluated magnitude durability SARS-CoV-2-specific antibody responses parental WA-1 SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) a representative variant concern (VoC) RBD using antibodies from compartments: long-lived plasma cell-derived encoded by...

Abstract In this investigation we examined the magnitude, breadth, and durability of SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies in two distinct B-cell compartments: long-lived plasma cell-derived plasma, peripheral memory B-cells along with their associated antibody profiles elicited after vitro stimulation. We found that magnitude varied amongst individuals, but was highest hospitalized subjects. Variants concern (VoC) -RBD-reactive were 72% samples investigation, VoC-RBD-reactive all 1 subject at a...

Individuals with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) have significant immune disfunction, often further disrupted by treatment. While currently available COVID-19 vaccinations are highly effective in immunocompetent individuals, they poorly immunogenic CLL patients. It is important to understand the role a heterologous boost would patients who did not respond initial two-dose mRNA vaccine series. SARS-CoV-2 specific responses, including antibodies and memory B-cells, CD4 CD8 T-cells were...

There is an unmet need for rapid, accurate, and noninvasive assays diagnosis monitoring of Mycobacterium avium complex pulmonary disease (MAC-PD). We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy anti-glycopeptidolipid (GPL)-core immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibody test in a US cohort MAC patients, we described serial serology changes during antimicrobial therapy. We identified serum samples from patients starting treatment at enrollment control subjects with or without bronchiectasis within OHSU's NTM...

Abstract Human infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus leads to coronavirus disease (COVID-19). A striking characteristic of COVID-19 in humans is highly variable host response and diverse clinical outcomes, ranging from clinically asymptomatic severe immune reactions leading hospitalization death. Here we used a 3D genomic approach analyse blood samples at time COVID diagnosis, global cohort 80 patients, different degrees outcomes. Using whole genome EpiSwitch ® arrays generate over 1 million...
