The goal of this study was to reassess the taxonomic status A. maculatum, triste and tigrinum by phylogenetic analysis five molecular markers [four mitochondrial: 12S rDNA, 16S control region (DL) cytochrome c oxidase 1 (cox1), one nuclear: ribosomal intergenic transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2)]. In addition, phenotypic diversity adult ticks identified as maculatum from geographically distinct populations thoroughly re-examined.Microscopic examination four putative morphotypes distinguishable...

Several reports describing a rare primary liver tumor with histologic features reminiscent of follicular thyroid neoplasms have been published under variety descriptive terms including thyroid-like, solid tubulocystic, and cholangioblastic cholangiocarcinoma. Although these tumors are considered to represent variants, they lack classic cholangiocarcinoma unique characteristics, namely immunoreactivity for inhibin NIPBL::NACC1 fusions. During a study to identify zoonotic pathogens in northwestern Mexico, we detected the presence of rickettsial agent Dermacentor parumapertus ticks from black-tailed jackrabbits (Lepus californicus). Comparison 4 gene sequences (gltA, htrA, ompA, and ompB) this showed 99%-100% identity with Rickettsia parkeri.

Rickettsia parkeri is an emerging human pathogen transmitted by Amblyomma ticks in predominately tropical and subtropical regions of the western hemisphere. In 2014 2015, one confirmed case probable R. rickettsiosis were reported from Pajarita Wilderness Area, a semi-arid mountainous region southern Arizona. To examine more closely potential public health risk this region, study was initiated to investigate pervasiveness maculatum Koch group areas Arizona ascertain infection frequencies...

Abstract Background Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) is a significant public health problem in Sonora, Mexico, resulting thousands of cases and hundreds deaths. Outbreaks RMSF are perpetuated by heavy brown dog tick infestations around homes. During 2009–2015, there were 61 23 deaths single community Sonora (Community A). Methods An integrated intervention was carried out from March–November 2016 aimed at reducing populations with long-acting acaricidal collars on dogs, environmental...

We present a series of four pregnant women with Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) that occurred in Sonora, Mexico, during 2015-2016. Confirmatory diagnoses were made by polymerase chain reaction or serological reactivity to antigens Rickettsia rickettsii using an indirect immunofluorescence antibody assay. Each patient presented and petechial rash was treated successfully doxycycline. the one full-term infant delivered at 36 weeks gestation survived infection. Three patients their first...
