Although not previously known to cause human infections, Kocuria species have now emerged as pathogens, mostly in compromised hosts with severe underlying disease. Recently, there has been an increasing incidence of different types infections reported, most likely due the adoption better identification methods. Here, we report a case peritonitis caused by rosea diabetic nephropathy patient who was on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Sepsis and K. our yielded two identical isolates...

CONTEXT: Rapid detection of pathogens in infected body fluids will help establishing an aetiological diagnosis, thereby facilitating specific therapy. Molecular methods have advantage over conventional bacteriological techniques particularly identifying slow-growing, fastidious or non-cultivable organisms.AIM: The aim this study is to evaluate the use 16S rRNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for detecting bacterial and compare with culture methods.SETTINGS AND DESIGN: This was done at...

ABSTRACT The molecular epidemiology and carbapenem resistance mechanisms of clinical isolates Acinetobacter baumannii obtained from a south Indian tertiary care hospital were investigated by repetitive extragenic palindromic sequence PCR (REP‐PCR) multi‐locus typing (MLST). Analysis resistant determinants was achieved screening for the presence genes encoding OXA‐carbapenemases, metallo‐β‐lactamases (MBLs) efflux pumps. REP‐PCR generated around eight clusters high heterogeneity; these, two...

Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a major public health problem with worldwide distribution in both humans and animals. Diagnosis of this disease by simple rapid immunoassays priority. The objective the present study was to standardize evaluate latex agglutination test (LAT) as for detection circulating hydatid antigen serum. subjects included 141 patients following groups: surgically confirmed CE cases (18), ultrasound-proven (26), presumptive (47), controls other parasitic (25), healthy (25)....

Diphyllobothriasis is an intestinal parasitic infection caused by the ingestion of raw fresh-water fish containing infectious larvae Diphyllobothrium spp. This uncommon in India. We report a case diphyllobothriasis that occurred Pondicherry, India, 5-year-old boy hailing from fishing community. He attended Pediatric OPD with spontaneous discharge segments adult parasite. The (macroscopically and microscopically) were identified as those latum. stool examination also revealed characteristic oval eggs.

Background: Hand hygiene (HH) remains a simple, cost-effective method to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Although the recent COVID-19 pandemic has brought out importance of HH, its compliance below set standards. Hence, monitoring HH in hospital setup through audits vital as part infection prevention and control practices. Aim: The present study was done with aim assessing critical care units during pandemic. Materials Methods: This prospective cross-sectional conducted COVID...
