This study presents an efficient synthesis of styrene through a one-step C–H/C–H vinyl–aryl bond formation process, aiming to mitigate the need for harsh reaction conditions and lack step efficiency two-step industrial production. In ligand accelerated palladium(II)-catalyzed arene alkenylation, tunable 2-hydroxypyridine ligands were shown enhance catalytic activity, stability, selectivity. Reaction designed obtain turnover numbers toward exceeding 3200 with Pd concentrations ranging from...

Polyolefins are the most widely produced type of plastics owing to their low production cost and favorable properties. Their polymer backbone consists solely inert C-C bonds, making them resistant durable materials. Although this is an extremely useful attribute during use phase, it complicates chemical recycling. In work, different types polyethylenes (PEs) converted into ketone-functionalized PEs with up 3.4% functionalized carbon atoms, in mild conditions (≤100 °C), using a titanosilicate...

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are man-made organic compounds ubiquitously present in the environment. Due to their persistency bioaccumulative nature, because of increasingly stringent regulations PFAS, removal from environment is necessary. Our initial study identified all-silica zeolite β as an alternative adsorbent with a high selectivity, affinity, capacity for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS) removal. Here, we influence PFAS chain length on...

Abstract The synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant scaffolds, such as substituted indoles or uracils, through the alkenylation “enamine‐like” aromatic C−H bond is performed at room temperature using catalytic amounts Pd(OAc) 2 in presence redox active, stable and reusable metal‐organic microporous frameworks. This first time that redox/acid active sites porous, non‐toxic earth abundant robust MOF‐74 platform are used to avoid fast deactivation cationic Pd species working under ambient...

The oxidative carbonylation of N-protected indoles was investigated to directly synthesize indole-3-carboxylic acids. Using Rh(III)-zeolites as heterogeneous catalysts, the single-site Rh-species reach unprecedented activities (>100 turnovers), while metal is readily recovered after reaction. X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) provided evidence for site-isolation Rh(III) species on zeolite.

Trifluoromethyl (CF3) groups are versatile structural motifs especially in the field of agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. However, current trifluoromethylation reactions generally associated with stoichiometric amounts transition metals/metal oxidants, homogeneous catalysts, high temperatures, expensive trifluoromethylating agents. All‐silica Beta zeolite was recently proven by our group to display a surprisingly high capacity and affinity for perfluorooctanoic acid perfluorooctanesulfonic even in the presence of an excess competing low‐molecular organic compounds. We reply comment, which argues that this zeolite's performance does not surpass some specific carbon materials.
