The purpose of our study was to prospectively evaluate the incremental diagnostic value combined dual-source coronary CT angiography (CTA) and myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) for detection significant stenoses.Forty-five patients with known artery disease detected by CTA were investigated adenosine-induced stress conventional angiography. Analysis performed in three steps: classification stenosis severity using CTA, identification defects rest MPI, reclassification according MPI....
Delirium after cardiac surgery is associated with serious long-term negative outcomes and high costs. The aim of this study to evaluate neurobehavioral, hemodynamic, sedative characteristics dexmedetomidine, compared the current postoperative protocol (remifentanil) in patients undergoing open heart cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).One hundred forty two eligible who underwent on CPB between April 2012 March 2013 were randomly divided into groups. Patients received either dexmedetomidine (range,...
Objective: To evaluate the depiction rate and morphologic features of myocardial bridging (MB) left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) using dual-source CT (DSCT). Materials Methods:CT scans from a total 1,353 patients who underwent DSCT were reviewed retrospectively for LAD-MB.Seventy-eight excluded due to poor image quality or enhancement artery. The length depth MB analyzed classified as superficial deep with respect (≤ 1 > mm) LAD tunneled segment.Superficial was subdivided into...
The present study was aimed to assess the results of newly developed aortic valve repair technique.Between 1997 and 2004, 69 valvuloplasties were performed with a new technique addressing three main components root; leaflets (L), sinotubular junction (STJ), annulus (A). For leaflet correction, additional implanted for STJ annular reduction, an internal synthetic ring strip along fibrous implanted, respectively. patients divided into two groups: 30 isolated regurgitation (group IAR) treated...
Quadricuspid aortic valve (QAV) is a rare congenital anomaly. We investigate the mid-term results of reconstruction by tricuspidization in patients with QAV. analyzed outcome eight consecutive who underwent surgery (AVRS) pericardial leaflets symptomatic quadricuspid disease between December 2007 and May 2012. AVRS consists leaflet fixation sino-tubular junction order to maintain coaptation new valve. Six males two females were included; ages ranged from 19 63 years (mean age, 51 years)....
To compare the diagnostic performance of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) myocardial perfusion at 1.5- and 3-tesla (T) for detecting significant coronary artery disease (CAD), with invasive angiography (ICA) as reference method. We prospectively enrolled 281 patients (age 62.4 ± 8.3 years, 193 men) suspected or known CAD who had undergone 1.5T 3T CMR ICA. Two independent radiologists interpreted defects. With ICA standard, identifying (≥ 50% diameter reduction left main ≥ 70% other...
In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of adults with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) disease who underwent reconstructive surgery (AVRS), consisting replacement diseased BAV 2 or 3 pericardial leaflets plus fixation sinotubular junction for accurate and constant leaflet coaptation. From December 2007 through April 2013, 135 consecutive patients (mean age, 49.2 ± 13.1 yr; 73.3% men) symptomatic AVRS. Raphe was observed in 84 (62.2%), remaining 51 had pure without raphe. A total...
Background: Reoperation of cardiac surgery via median sternotomy can be associated with significant complications.Thoracotomy is expected to reduce the risk reoperation and enhance surgical outcomes. We retrospectively analyzed two operative approaches (thoracotomy vs. sternotomy) in reoperation.Materials Methods: From September 2007 December 2010, 35 patients who required mitral valvular disease following previous were included.Average age was 45.8±15.4 years (range, 14 76 years)...
Aortic valve calcification quantification using cardiac computed tomography (CCT) is a reliable marker for aortic stenosis (AS) in patients with bicuspid (BAV) disease. To determine the association of Agatston calcium score (AVCS) morphological and hemodynamic characteristics BAV define cut-off AVCS optimizing grade AS AS.This study included 161 regardless regurgitation who underwent transthoracic echocardiography CCT. BAVs were classified according to orientation cusps presence raphe....
Objective:The aim of this study was to identify the morphological and functional characteristics quadricuspid aortic valves (QAV) on cardiac computed tomography (CCT). Materials Methods:We retrospectively enrolled 11 patients with QAV.All underwent CCT transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), 7 cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR).The presence classification QAV assessed by compared that TTE intraoperative findings. The regurgitant orifice area (ROA) measured severity regurgitation (AR)...
This report describes a 35-year-old woman with unruptured aneurysm of the left sinus Valsalva presenting as non-ST elevation myocardial infarction due to compression coronary artery by aneurysm. Cardiac multislice CT and angiogram revealed large compressing main artery. Surgical repair was performed closing entrance aortic valve replacement. Postoperative flow restored thus anginal symptom disappeared.
Mitral valve repair is favored over replacement due to superior outcomes. However, extensive infective endocarditis (IE) often has been considered unreconstructable. We retrospectively analyzed the mid-term outcomes of an individualized approach using a lifting annuloplasty strip. Between December 2007 and March 2014, 27 consecutive patients with acute single mitral IE (age 43 ± 16 years, 11 men) underwent (LMA) strip (Mitracon® strip, 28 mm in 4, 32 10, 34 13). Blood culture was positive 70...
Open heart surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is considered one of the most frequent surgical procedures in which acute kidney injury (AKI) a and serious complication. The aim present study was to evaluate efficiency neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) as an early AKI biomarker after CPB cardiac (CS).Thirty-seven adult patients undergoing CS with were included this retrospective study. They had normal preoperative renal function, assessed by creatinine (Cr) level, NGAL...
The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety ultrasonography-guided antegrade common femoral artery puncture subsequent superficial access without aid fluoroscopy. Factors that could affect time were also assessed.A total 294 cases from 218 consecutive patients (163 men, 55 women; mean age: 66.9 ± 12.7 years) who underwent lower extremity endovascular procedures retrospectively evaluated. between injection local anesthetic insertion microsheath into measured. diameter,...
Here, we present a rare case of cardiac parasitic infection found in an adult female patient who had the symptoms dyspnea upon exertion. She was diagnosed with double-chambered right ventricle due to infundibular hypertrophy confirmed by transthoracic echocardiography and computed tomography. We performed surgery infundibulectomy around pulmonary valve. In end, histopathological findings resected muscle demonstrated trichinellosis, type roundworm infection.
Warfarin is the only approved oral anticoagulant for long-term prophylaxis against valve thrombosis and thromboembolism in patients with mechanical heart valves. To date, apixaban double (aortic mitral) valves has not been reported literature. We report case of a 50-year-old female who underwent replacement February 2017. was prescribed after replacement. However, she complained side effects warfarin, including tingling sensation numbness legs, urticaria, skin rash, nausea voluntarily stopped...
