This paper aims to clarify the mechanism of longitudinal response a tunnel under normal faulting via comprehensive analysis available experimental data and numerical simulations. Four 1 g condition model tests were reviewed reanalysed highlight key characteristics faulting: S-shaped deformation inverted bending strain distribution in direction; main affected zone is approximately six times diameter fault plane. A three-dimensional finite element was also established verified, followed by...

Since 2019, a synchronous and abnormal upward trend in water levels has been observed the Tangshan Majiagou observation wells, located within fault zone, coinciding with three earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 or higher area. This study conducted quantitative analysis influence environmental factors on level rises, based data regarding groundwater exploitation, reservoir storage, precipitation recharge areas surrounding wells. The stress state aquifers was quantitatively determined, regional...

Collecting water from fog flow has emerged as a promising strategy for the relief of shortage problems. Herein, using UV-induced (ultraviolet light induced) controllable diffusion method combined with technology three-dimensional (3D) printing, we fabricate biomimetic materials incorporating beetle-like hydrophobic-hydrophilic character and cactus-like cone arrays various structure parameters, then systematically study their fog-harvesting performance. The can break away photomask to...

With the continuous increase of depth in underground engineering, rock bursts or explosions can cause instantaneous shock load and result engineering disasters. To solve these problems, a novel high strength toughness (HSHT) bolt steel with constant resistance large deformation is proposed. This study aims to investigate dynamic constitutive models microstructure HSHT under extreme loading conditions. A series tension tests were conducted using Split Hopkinson Tensile Bar (SHTB) system...

The number of tunnels crossing fault zones in Western China has inevitably increased. These would undergo serious damage under the dislocation, especially for reverse condition. Therefore, this study aims to reveal longitudinal mechanical responses dislocation faults by conducting a comprehensive review available experimental data. deformation modes and strain distributions are collected analyzed. bending axial strains along direction computed used highlight contributions compression...

In order to study deformation and stability of soft rock slope in excavation process, the deformation, plastic area distribution, change safety factor example based on FLAC3D software were studied this paper. Results show that: (1) vertical horizontal displacement gradually increase with excavation; (2) process excavation, tension zone occurs surface, shear connected properties forms internally; (3) strength reduction method limit equilibrium calculation, reduces adopting construction form...

Tunnel–bridge–tunnel groups (TBTGs) are emerging roads that often involve simple road alignments, but complex driving environments. Investigating crashes occurred in TBTGs is essential for revealing the environment–adaptability relationships such roads. This study seeks to analyze crash characteristics of component sections with different environments and compare impact differences key factor on crashes. This work aims to study the constitutive models and microstructures of a novel high-strength high-ductility (HSHD) steel under cryogenic temperature. A series tensile tests were conducted using testing machine equipped with chamber. The results showed that HSHD exhibits an obvious temperature-dependence effect. As temperature decreased, yield strength gradually increased, while uniform elongation increased then decreased. At −196 °C, exhibited significantly enhanced mechanical properties....
