We established a cancer stem (CS) cell line, U87CS, by means of spheroid culture U87MG cells derived from glioblastoma (GBM) in neuronal medium. U87CS presented positive immunohistochemical staining for multidrug resistance (MDR)1 and CD133, marker subset leukemia GBM CS cells. The gene expression MDR1 CD133 on increased an average 8.51 47.18 times, respectively, compared to the levels real-time quantitative RT-PCR. possessed stronger drug-resistance conventional anti-cancer drugs, such as...

To describe the treatment outcomes of epidural blood patch (EBP) guided by a novel overflow leak test (OLT) combined with computed tomography myelography (CTM) in patients intracranial hypotension, focus on consistency and discrepancy between CTM OLT findings METHODS: followed was performed 18 adults CSF pressure ≤60 mmH2O. Patients were categorized according to or findings: Group A, matching signals OLT; B, detected only; C, signal sites D, no both OLT. EBPs applied policy, associations...

The conditions for the reconstitution of surfactant lipoprotein were investigated using pig pulmonary surfactant.Lipids surface-active material (SAM) extracted with ethanol-ether and residue, containing mainly protein, was first dilute sodium borate buffer (pH 10.0) (fraction A) followed by extraction deoxycholate solution B).The former (A) contained protein having a nominal molecular weight 34,000 daltons, albumin globulin, latter (B) 15,000 daltons.Reconstitution lipids proteins these two...

Abstract Cancer stem cells are an important target for effective therapy, since they show tumorigenicity, chemoresistance, and radioresistance. We isolated cancer from glioma cell lines tissues examined the expression of testis antigen (CTA) genes as potential molecules vaccine therapy. CTA were highly frequently expressed in compared with differentiated cells. In addition, histone acetylation levels promoter regions high low cells, while DNA methylation analysis revealed hypomethylation...

Based on the X-ray structure of complex Ac-Tyr-Val-Ala-Asp-H (L-709049) and interleukin-1β converting enzyme (ICE), we synthesized compounds which were derived from 2-NapCO-Val-Pro-Asp-CH2OPh (1) to obtain a potent inhibitor in cell assay. Among these compounds, (3S)-N-methanesulfonyl-3-[[1-[N-(2-naphthoyl)-L-valyl]-L-prolyl]amino]-4-oxobutanamide (27c) showed high potency not only assay but also with IC50 values 38 nM 0.23 μM, respectively. Compound 27c, c log P value 1.76, had more...

Nocardial brain abscesses are uncommon and not preceded by clear infectious symptoms in most cases. Delayed identification of the bacteria is responsible for a high mortality rate. A 58-year-old afebrile woman was admitted to our hospital because progressive right hemiparesis aphasia. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed single ring-enhanced lesion left frontal lobe. It extremely difficult establish diagnosis abscess, laboratory data provided little evidence bacterial infection,...

The mode of cell growth Malassezia was studied by freeze-fracture using the plasma membrane configurations this organism as natural markers. mature bodies M. pachydermatis had a ring swelling, and on each side ring, one set straight spiral grooves circumvallate bulgings. always divided at swelling (M. pachydermatis) or depression furfur), soon followed budding there. A new similar formed bud. In all 12 strains studied, in mother bud parts were both left-handed but opposite direction...

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are the sole population possessing high self-renewal activity in tumors, with their existence affecting tumor recurrence. However, invasive of CSCs has yet to be fully understood. In this article, we established a sphere culture RSV-M mouse glioma (RSV-M-TS) and evaluated migration invasion activities. Histological analysis formed by cranial injection RSV-M-TS showed highly properties similarities human malignant tissues. When both were compared intracranial...

The diagnosis of CSF hypovolemia remains controversial. primary diagnostic factor relies on confirmation leakage the based reduced spinal fluid pressure. Determining specific site is most important issue for effective treatment but a difficult task. Although CT myelography, radioisotope cisternography, and MRI are commonly performed in hypovolemia, these techniques can rarely identify precise site. Therefore, an epidural blood patch lumbar spine many cases. This study reports new modality...
