The ($d, p$) reactions on ${\mathrm{Ba}}^{130,132,134,136,138}$ have been investigated with 12.0-MeV deuterons from the Argonne Tandem Van de Graaff accelerator. Proton spectra were recorded in a broad-range magnetic spectrograph. Many new levels observed. ground-state $Q$ values (in MeV) for (including odd-$A$ targets) are found to be 5.269 $A=130, 4.977$ $A=132, 4.746$ $A=134, 6.886$ $A=135, 4.680$ $A=136, 6.398$ $A=137, \mathrm{and} 2.493$ $A=138$. angular distributions measured states up...

A new experimental technique was used to measure Coulomb displacement energies $\ensuremath{\Delta}{E}_{c}$ in the Ca-Sc isobaric pairs with $A=44, 46, 48, \mathrm{and} 50$. The reaction ${\mathrm{Ca}}^{46}({\mathrm{He}}^{3}, d){\mathrm{Sc}}^{47}$ this quantity for $A=47$. This permits analysis of all from $A=41 \mathrm{to} 50$, ground states and several excited states, which yields a consistent picture.

Neutron particle-hole states in ${\mathrm{Ba}}^{138}$ have been observed three different reactions: from the decay of isobaric analog resonances formed by reaction ${\mathrm{Ba}}^{138}$+$p$, ${\mathrm{Ba}}^{137}(d, p){\mathrm{Ba}}^{138}$, and as proton scattering ${\mathrm{Ba}}^{137}$. It is thus possible to make reasonable assignments spin parity well determine shell-model configurations many these states.

A 9\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} solenoidal spin rotator or 5% partial Siberian Snake was used to successfully accelerate polarized protons for the first time 10.8 GeV kinetic energy in Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron with depolarization due intrinsic resonance crossing. It found that a snake can effectively overcome 18 imperfection resonances this range. We also observed an interference between flip induced by and linear coupling solenoid field of snake.

With barium isotopes of mass 130, 132, 134, 136, and 138 as targets, proton elastic scattering excitation functions have been obtained at several angles. In the energy range 7.0-12.0 MeV, we observed resonances which correspond to isobaric analogs low-lying states target-plus-neutron systems. The resonance data analyzed extract widths, total energies. Spectroscopic factors extracted by comparing measured widths with single-particle calculated on basis a shell-model description analog state....

A new type of spin depolarization resonance has been observed at the Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS). This is identified as a strong closed-orbit sideband around dominant intrinsic resonance. The strength was proportional to 9th harmonic component horizontal closed orbit and vertical betatron oscillation amplitude. "hybrid" cannot be overcome by partial snake AGS, but it can corrected correctors.
