Follicular dendritic cell (FDC)-sarcoma is a rare neoplasm with morphologic and phenotypic features of FDCs. It shows an extremely heterogeneous morphology, therefore, its diagnosis relys on the phenotype tumor cells. Aim present study was identification new specific markers for FDC-sarcoma by whole transcriptome sequencing (WTS). Candidate were selected based gene expression level biological function. Immunohistochemistry performed reactive tonsils, 22 cases FDC-sarcomas 214 control...

Abstract Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is a slow-growing salivary gland malignancy that relapses frequently. AdCCs of the submandibular exhibit unique differences in prognosis and treatment response to adjuvant radiotherapy compared other sites, yet role tumor anatomic subsite on gene expression immune microenvironment (TIME) composition remains unclear. We used 87 samples, including 48 samples (27 AdCC 21 normal tissue samples) from 4 publicly available RNA sequencing datasets, validation...

Prosthetic joint infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis usually involves the hips or knees and can result from either local reactivation, less often hematogenous spread. Predisposing conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, chronic steroid use pulmonary diseases. The most common symptom at presentation is pain, physical finding swelling and/or a draining sinus tract. sedimentation rate helpful when elevated but nonspecific, initial skin testing only positive. diagnosis depends on culture...

The incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in the United States has declined following a logarithmic pattern, with few exceptions. One exception was during acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) epidemic, which thought to have caused deviation. However, since then, alternative explanations been proposed, including increased burden chronic diseases, immigration, and increase use immune suppressant medications.Epidemiological data Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) Bureau Census were...

Lung cancer is the leading cause of related mortality world-wide and amongst males in India. The discovery tyrosine kinase inhibitors holds a ray hope for subset lung patients, which have activating epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. Much preliminary data on frequency EGFR mutations emanated from Western studies, reported mutation rates 10-15%. However, studies Asian countries report much higher mutations, not only male population, but also females. The object this study was...

This study intends to determine what role fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) plays in the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB), particularly a geriatric population.Cases reported Tennessee Department Health during years 1989 and 1990 were divided into two age groups: Group A (< 65 years) B (> or = years). Natural sputum smears cultures positive for M. (M. TB) each group compared with FOB specimens, acid-fast bacilli (AFB) cultures. Data analyzed by chi-square tests independence year, then statistical...

Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare (MAI) rarely causes disease of the spine in healthy individuals. We describe an elderly woman who had isolated skeletal involvement with MAI, mimicking Pott's disease. She responded well to surgical excision inflamed tissue and antibiotic therapy. Osteomyelitis due MAI must be differentiated from that tuberculosis because treatment regimens are different.
