Abstract A bacterial cutinase from Thermobifida fusca , named Tfu_0883, was genetically modified by site‐directed mutagenesis to enhance its activity on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET). The new mutations tailored the catalytic site for PET, increasing affinity of this hydrophobic substrate and ability hydrolyze it. mutation I218A designed create space double Q132A/T101A both increase hydrophobicity. mutant soluble p ‐nitrophenyl butyrate increased two‐fold compared wild‐type cutinase,...
Here we propose a solution which will replace harsh reducing agents at alkaline pH by peptide formulations acting neutral to change hair shape through the re-conformation of disulphide bonds.
The demand for products based on natural ingredients is increasing among cosmetic and textile consumers. Cork extracts contain components of interest with special properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial activities, that might improve the effectiveness formulations currently market may impart new characteristics to textiles. main goal this work was investigate effect incorporation three cork into two commercial (formulation A B) evaluate their role as dyeing...
The methylimidazolium chloride ionic liquid (IL) was successfully used for the dissolution of cotton cellulose. IL and IL-cellulose were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy analyses. obtained applied to wool hair keratin fiber surfaces, forming a fine coating layer. From FT-IR XRD analyses, results suggested reduction hydrogen bonds crystallinity in IL-cellulose-coated fibers. This effect caused covering with coating, good intrinsic...
Small peptides with aromatic nuclei at the N-terminus have been shown to form bioactive, biocompatible, and biodegradable supramolecular peptide hydrogels. Novel heterocycle-dipeptide conjugates potential biological activity or application as drug carriers were synthesized by using S-(benzo[b]thiophene) N,S-(thieno [2,3-b]pyridine thieno[2,3-b]quinoline) heterocycles N-protective groups for dipeptides l-Phe-l-Phe l-Phe-l-Leu. The synthesis involved coupling heterocyclic carboxylic acids...
The main goal of this work is to develop a novel and environmental-friendly technology for cotton bleaching with reduced processing costs. This exploits combined laccase-hydrogen peroxide process assisted by ultrasound. For purpose, specific reactors were studied, namely ultrasonic power generator type K8 (850 kHz) bath equipment Ultrasonic cleaner USC600TH (45 kHz). optimal operating conditions chosen considering the highest levels hydroxyl radical production lowest energy input. capacity...
Abstract Aiming to reduce the toxicity and operational costs often associated chemical processes, enzymatic synthesis is applied herein as a sustainable route for producing polyesters. The use of NADES’ (Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents) components source monomers polymers through lipase‐catalyzed esterification in an anhydrous medium detailed first time. Three NADES composed by glycerol organic base, or acid, were used produce polyesters, polymerization reactions catalyzed Aspergillus oryzae...
A novel transdermal hyaluronic acid (HA) conjugated with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was developed in the form of solid-in-oil (S/O) nanodispersion (129.7 nm mean diameter). Ex vivo skin penetration analysis by fluorescence and confocal observation histological sections revealed ability BSA/HA nanodispersions to cross stratum corneum penetrate into dermis. Furthermore, no significant toxicity found fibroblast keratinocyte cells vitro. These results proved potential for delivery constituting a...
Abstract Bacterial cellulose (BC) was obtained by static cultivation using commercial BC gel from scoby. membranes (oven dried and freeze‐dried) were swelled with 8% NaOH, in the absence presence of ultrasound (US), for 30, 60, 90 min. The influence swelling conditions on both physico‐chemical properties molecules entrapment evaluated. Considering highest levels entrapment, an optimum procedure established: NaOH 30 min at room temperature US. Native PEGylated laccase Myceliophthora...
Abstract Laccase catalyzes the oxidation and polymerization of phenolic compounds in presence oxygen. Herein, we report for first time that a previous PEGylation laccase enhances polymerase activity 3‐fold compared with reaction native enzyme, as confirmed by UV/Vis spectroscopy. The catechol increased only 1.5‐fold if poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) was added to medium reaction. Molecular‐dynamics simulations suggest formation miscible complex polycatechol PEG, which is responsible push...
Abstract Chemical processes to change the hair shape can lead damaged fibre. Here, we propose benign formulations based on different types of cellulose using imidazolium ionic liquids (ILs) and a commercial serum as solvents. Formulations with concentrations at 3% 0.5% HEC (Hydroxyethyl cellulose) CMC (Carboxymethylcellulose) showed best results after washing, around 10% curling effect. Images from fluorescence microscopy enable observe coating layer formed surface fiber. ATR-FTIR...
Abstract The present research relates to a fusion protein comprising chromogenic blue ultramarine (UM) bound keratin-based peptide (KP). KP-UM explores UM nature together with KP affinity towards hair. For the first time is explored as hair coloring agent. colored overbleached hair, being color dependent on formulation polarity. was able bind cuticle and even penetrate throughout fibre. Molecular dynamics studies demonstrated that interaction between mediated by sequence. All formulations...
The perming of hair is a common styling procedure with negative impact on the overall properties fibers. Usually, this process uses harsh chemicals to promote disruption disulfide bonds and formation new change shape hair. Here, we explored bovine serum albumin (BSA), silk fibroin (SF), keratin two fusion recombinant proteins (KP-UM KP-Cryst) as agents. A phosphate buffer prepared at different pH values (5, 7 9) was used apply virgin Asian hair, hot BaByliss curl To assess potential protein...
Hydrogel coating was explored to modulate the shape of keratin hair fibre. The motivation development an eco-friendly methodology with nontoxic chemicals Polymeric hydrogel acrylic acid and N-N-dimethylacrylamide prepared by free-radical polymerization in aqueous solution, using nano-alumina particles as crosslinker potassium persulfate initiator. Physico-chemical properties investigated Fourier transformer infrared spectrum (FTIR), thermal analysis swelling ratio behaviour. After coating,...
Dispersions in transcutol/isopropyl myristate make C60 fullerene molecules suitable for transdermal delivery. We found that can successfully permeate the skin using pig Franz diffusion cells. Molecular dynamics simulations and transmission electron microscopy confirmed these observations. Basic cosmetic formulations with without harsh organic solvents show a high potential delivery of biopharmaceutical cosmetics applications.
