We have demonstrated an easy, economic, one-step synthetic route to water-soluble fluorescent carbon dots derived from the thermal upcycling of urine.
Carbon dots derived from citric acid pyrolysis were competent reductants and stabilizing agents in the eco-friendly preparation of Ag, Au, bimetallic AuAg nanoparticles which presented plasmonic, size, catalytic tunability.
Dinuclear Cu(I) and Ag(I) complexes, Cu2[(2,6-Me2C6H3N)2C(H)]2, 1, Ag2[(2,6-Me2C6H3N)2C(H)]2, 2, Cu2[2,6-iPr2C6H3N)2C(H)]2, 3, Ag2[(2,6-iPr2C6H3N)2C(H)]2, 4, were synthesized from reactions of [Cu(NCCH3)4][PF6] with Na[(2,6-R2C6H3N)2C(H)] AgO2CCH3 [Et3NH][(2,6-R2C6H3N2C(H)], R = Me, iPr. Carbon disulfide was observed to insert into the metal–nitrogen bonds 1 produce Cu4[CS2(2,6-Me2C6H3NC(H)═NC6H3Me2)]4, 5, a Cu4S8 core, which represents rare transformation dinuclear tetranuclear species....
Recent progress in developing composites embedded with photocatalysts indicates application for wastewater treatment. However, significant gaps remain effective photocatalyst–polymer use as customizable, deployable, and retrievable structures mitigating environmental contamination. The goal of this study was to generate evaluate the performance 3D printed TiO2 degrading polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) waters affected by contaminated sediment. Photocatalytic were fabricated using...
We describe a straightforward tactic to boost the inherently low peroxidase-like activity of heme-protein equine cytochrome c (cyt c) following its electrostatic assembly onto carbon nanodot surface. This represents first time that interaction has been demonstrated switch protein into high-performance enzyme for speeding up reaction it was not evolved catalyze. The dramatic enhancement in stems part from favorable local perturbations within heme microenvironment cyt which are influenced by...
The ubiquitous Faraday cage, an experimental component particularly essential for nanoelectrochemical measurements, is responsible neutralizing noise introduced by electromagnetic interference (EMI). cage designs abound in the literature, often exhibiting varying thicknesses, mesh sizes, and base materials. fact that composition most goes unreported underscores many electrochemical researchers assume a 100% EMI reduction any given design. In this work, assumption challenged from theoretical...
Hypoxia-selective cytotoxins (HSCs) seek to exploit the oxygen-poor nature of tumor tissue for therapeutic gain. Typically, HSCs require activation by one-electron bioreductive enzymes such as NADPH:cytochrome P450 reductase (CYPOR). Thus, successful clinical deployment may be facilitated development and implementation diagnostic probes that detect presence relevant in tissue. The work described here develops analogues well-studied HSC tirapazamine (3-amino-1,2,4-benzotriazine 1,4-di-...
(1) Background: Disperse Blue 14, Red 9, Solvent 169 and Yellow 33 have been used to color smoke; however, they not comprehensively assessed for their potential health hazards. (2) Methods: To assess the effects of these dyes, zebrafish embryos were exposed from 6 120 h post fertilization (hpf) 10-55 µM 1-50 169, 7.5-13.5 or 133-314 14. Embryos monitored adverse on gene expression at 48 hpf as well mortality, development behavior hpf. The dyes examined cross blood-brain barrier. (3) Results:...
Emergent high entropy nanomaterials and their associated complex surface structure hold promise to unlock unique catalytic intermediate pathways photonic/plasmonic interactions; however, synthetic strategies tune the size, morphological, stoichiometric properties remain limited. This work demonstrates a confined electro-precipitation mechanism for formation of tunable, high-entropy oxide microspheres within emulsion droplet scaffolds. complements traditional electrodeposition explains...
Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) is one of the most popular in situ rehabilitation techniques to repair sewer and water pipes. While there are multiple approaches curing CIPP, steam-curing styrene-based resins has been found be associated with air-borne chemical emissions. Health officials, utilities industry representatives have recognized need know more about these emissions, especially styrene. Such concern led studies investigating concentrations volatile organic compounds on CIPP installation...
