Abstract We demonstrate a high-energy noise-like pulse (NLP) generated by an Er-doped fiber (EDF) laser incorporating PbS quantum dot (QD) polystyrene (PS) composite film as saturable absorber (SA). Benefitting from the intrinsic properties of NLPs and high damage threshold QD PS film, stable NLP train can be obtained with output power 96.3 mW at pump 660 mW, corresponding to energy 9.68 nJ. This represents highest ever reported in EDF material-based SAs. The slope efficiency reached 17.37%...

During laparoscopic surgery, the Veress needle is commonly used in pneumoperitoneum establishment. Precise placement of still a challenge for surgeon. In this study, computer-aided endoscopic optical coherence tomography (OCT) system was developed to effectively and safely guide insertion. This tested by imaging subcutaneous fat, muscle, abdominal space, small intestine from swine samples simulate surgical process, including situation with injury. Each tissue layer visualized OCT images...

Multicellular tumor spheroids (MCTs) are indispensable models for evaluating drug efficacy precision cancer therapeutic strategies as well repurposing FDA-approved drugs ovarian cancer. However, current imaging techniques cannot provide effective monitoring of pathological responses due to shallow penetration and experimentally operative destruction. We plan utilize a noninvasive optical tool achieve in vivo longitudinal the growth MCTs repurpose three therapy.

An optical fiber interferometer coated with PbS quantum dots (QDs) was developed for copper ion (${{\rm{Cu}}^{2 +}}$) detection. The QDs were modified by a multifunctional copolymer that enabled QD surface ligation, dispersion, and coordination ${{\rm{Cu}}^{2 +}}$. +}}$ the polymer induced changes in surrounding refractive index of interferometer. sensor highly selective showed linear detection range 0-1000 µM limit 2.20 both aqueous biological solutions.

Percutaneous renal biopsy is commonly used for kidney cancer diagnosis. However, the procedure remains challenging in sampling accuracy. Here we introduce a forward-viewing optical coherence tomography probe differentiating tumor and normal tissues, aiming at precise guidance. Totally, ten human samples, nine of which had malignant carcinoma one benign oncocytoma, were system evaluation. Based on their distinct imaging features, could be efficiently distinguished from tissues. Additionally,...
