Abstract Nepal is located on the southern slope of Central Himalayas and has experienced frequent droughts in past. In this study, we used an ensemble 13 biased corrected models from Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) to assess future drought conditions over under three shared socioeconomic pathways (SSP126, SSP245, SSP585) using Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) at annual timescale. The monthly correlation between observed CMIP6-simulated...
Tetrigidae is one of the largest orthopteran families, but very few studies so far have integrated molecular and morphological data. Unsurprisingly, species been DNA barcoded, unresolved taxonomy makes a difficult group to work with. Here, we examined sample 90 specimens collected as part Costa Rican barcoding project identified 20 assigned 24 BINs, among which are 8 newly described species: Scaria bimaculata sp. nov., Lophotettix semicristatus Otumba auricarinata tenuis ignicula Metrodora...
This paper describes one new genus from Nepal, Skejotettix gen. nov., and species of this genus, S. netrajyoti et sp. nov. assigns to muglingi (Ingrisch, 2001b) comb. Coptotettix Bolívar, 1887. The is morphologically close Ergatettix Kirby, 1914 Lamellitettigodes Günther, 1939 SE Asia, Hainantettix Deng, 2020 (including H. angustivertex (Zha Peng, 2021) hainanensis (Liang, 2002) nov.) Hainan, China. New distribution records have been provided Coptotettix. Endemic the shares two different...
Aryal’s Ten Avatar Groundhopper, Aryalidonta itishreea gen. et sp. nov. , named in honor of the late Bhairav Aryal, an iconic Nepali satirist, is a new genus and species Tetrigidae described as part tribe Thoradontini. The native to Nepal, country with rich tetrigid fauna need taxonomic revisions. This monotypic can be easily separated from other Thoradontini genera by its enlarged proximal halves middle femora, peculiar lateral lobe morphology (small caudal protrusion sharp tip),...
This paper describes a new species of Skejotetix Subedi, 2022, S. kasalo sp. nov. , from the temperate forests Bajung, Parbat, Nepal. The genus was known only subtropical regions and its different life stages were observed in natural habitat. It found to have many colors that match perfectly with surroundings. Skejotettix considered brachypronotal until now, but macropronotal form also alongside typical is an important piece puzzle determining relationship between Ergatetttix Kirby, 1914.
This paper presents a list of groundhoppers (Orthoptera: Tetrigidae) from Ramaroshan, Achham, Nepal, along with the description new species, Hedotettix samitae sp. nov. A total 7 species were recorded study area. The is brachypronotal anterior margin pronotum slightly rounded; robust hind femora; and antennal grooves top above bottom eyes below. in many ways similar to gracilis. (gracilis) group described include these two which differ mainly shape femora, scutellum, pronotum. taxonomy genus...
