To date, there is no severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2-(SARS-CoV-2)-specific prognostic biomarker available. We assessed whether SARS-CoV-2 cycle threshold (Ct) value at diagnosis could predict novel CoronaVirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) severity, clinical manifestations, and six-month sequelae. Hospitalized outpatient cases were randomly sampled from the diagnoses of March 2020 data collected 6 months by interview regional database for COVID-19 emergency. Patients stratified...

SARS-CoV-2 can produce both severe clinical conditions and long-term sequelae, but data describing post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (PACS) are lacking for people living with HIV (PLWH). We aimed at assessing the prevalence factors associated PACS in our cohort. included all unvaccinated adult PLWH on antiretroviral treatment plasma HIV-RNA < 40 cp/mL since least six months before infection Infectious Tropical Diseases Unit of Padua (Italy), from 20 February 2020 to 31 March 2021. severity was...

Recently, a benefit from administration of 3-day course early remdesivir (ER) in the outpatients' setting was reported. However, real-life data on its use is scarce. Therefore, we explored ER clinical outcome our s cohort, compared to untreated controls. We included all patients who were prescribed February May 2022 and followed them up for 3 months received treatment with In two groups following outcomes investigated: hospitalization mortality rate, time negativization symptom's resolution,...

Background: The relationship between sleep disorders (SDs), cardiovascular risk (CVR), and mood (MDs) has been studied in detail the general population, but far less people with HIV (PWH). Methods: Cross-sectional analysis single centre cohort of PWH. Sleep quality was assessed using by Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Berlin Questionnaire (BQ), Pittsburgh Quality (PSQI); anxiety depression were evaluated Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 Patient Health...

COVID-19 is characterized by an uncontrolled inflammatory response with high pro-inflammatory cytokine production through the activation of intracellular pathways, such as mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). Viruses are able to exploit MAPK pathway their advantage; this relevance severe poorly described. The aim study was quantify biomarkers involved in and clarify its possible role affecting some COVID-19-related clinical features.H-RAS, C-RAF, MAPK1, MAPK2, ERK were quantified ELISA,...

Abstract We measured severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 spike protein subunits S1/S2 antibodies by using capillary electrophoresis and a chemiluminescence immunoassay for 5,444 active healthcare workers in Italy. Seroprevalence was 6.9% higher among participants having contact with patients. Seroconversion not observed 37/213 previously infected participants.

Psoriatic patients with latent tuberculosis infection and properly treated active need careful management when prescribing modern biological drugs. Although data guidelines regarding tumour necrosis factor-α inhibitors advise caution initiation of prophylactic therapy in infection, the same indications do not seem to find equal force for interleukin (IL)-23 IL-17 inhibitors. In order evaluate risk reactivation or tuberculosis, an observational retrospective study was conducted on population...

Background: Clinical trials and real-life studies have granted the efficacy safety of dolutegravir lamivudine (DTG/3TC) in naïve experienced people living with HIV (PLWH), but there are no long-term data elderly people. We herein describe our cohort PLWH who were ≥65 years age (PLWH ≥ 65) started or switched to DTG/3TC, single-tablet regimen, DTG plus 3TC. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) drugs vary in their distribution into cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which can be estimated using the central nervous system (CNS) penetration effectiveness (CPE) score. Although higher CPE has been associated with lower CSF HIV RNA levels, its relationship to inflammation is less clear. We investigated associations between and three immune biomarkers (CXCL10, TNF-α, IL-6) 275 virally suppressed people (PWH) on three-drug ART regimens a training–validation design....
