Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a life-threatening condition that one of most common side effects cisplatin therapy. Fatty acid oxidation (FAO) the main source energy production in proximal tubular epithelial cells (PTECs) but it inhibited AKI. Recent work demonstrated activation farnesoid X receptor (FXR) protects against AKI, underlying mechanism remains elusive. Using model cisplatin-induced we found FXR and FAO-related genes were remarkably downregulated while lipid accumulated. Proximal...

BackgroundUncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) is predominantly found in brown adipose tissue mitochondria, and mediates energy dissipation to generate heat rather than ATP via functional mitochondrial uncoupling. However, little known about its expression function kidney.MethodsWe carried out a mRNA microarray analysis mice kidneys with ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury. The most dramatically downregulated gene UCP1 after IR was identified, role generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) oxidative...

This study provides a mechanistic insight into how C-C motif chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2) is upregulated in renal tubular epithelial cells (TECs) and contributes to kidney dysfunction during sepsis. The data reveal that lipopolysaccharide induces CCL2 expression through the Toll-like receptor 2/NF-κB signaling pathway TECs. Endogenous released from TECs, not myeloid cells, responsible for sepsis-induced inflammation acute injury.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious condition with high mortality. The most common cause ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury, which thought to be closely related pyroptosis. Disulfiram well-known alcohol abuse drug, and recent studies have shown its ability mitigate pyroptosis in mouse macrophages. This study investigated whether disulfiram could improve IR-induced AKI elucidated the possible molecular mechanism. We generated an IR model kidneys hypoxia/reoxygenation (HR) murine tubular...

Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is the main cause of acute kidney (AKI), and there no effective therapy. Microenvironmental acidification generally observed in ischemic tissues. Acid-sensing ion channel 1a (ASIC1a) can be activated by a decrease extracellular pH which mediates neuronal IRI. Our previous study demonstrated that, ASIC1a inhibition alleviates renal However, underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. In this study, we determined that tubule-specific deletion mice...

Abstract Increasing evidence demonstrates that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in several pathogenic processes of the kidney. However, functions lncRNAs ischemic acute kidney injury (AKI) remain undefined. In this study, global lncRNA profiling indicated many transcripts were deregulated after ischemia reperfusion (IR). Among them, we identified IRAR (ischemia- r eperfusion a ssociated R NA) as potential candidate, which was mostly expressed by tubular epithelial cells...
