ABSTRACT Candida auris is a multiresistant pathogenic yeast commonly isolated from bloodstream infections in immunocompromised patients. In this work, we infected Galleria mellonella larvae with 105 CFU of reference strains and two clinical isolates C. albicans compared the outcomes infection between both species. Larvae were evaluated every 24 h for total 120 following G. Health Index Scoring System, survival, activity, melanization cocoon formation monitored. Our results showed that...

The physiological factors that contribute to Mycobacterium abscessus lung infections remain unclear. We determined whether antibiotic treatment targeting a major cystic fibrosis pathogen (i.e., Pseudomonas aeruginosa) could provide the ideal conditions for establishment of M. infection. Our data showed P. aeruginosa inhibited biofilm formation under control and antimicrobial therapy selectively diminished this competitive interaction, thereby increasing survival.

To evaluate the compassionate use of plitidepsin as an antiviral treatment in hospitalized immunocompromised adult patients with moderate-to-severe COVID-19.Retrospective observational study data -collected from January 01, 2021 to April 30, 2022- 35 COVID-19 non-eligible for other available treatments. Main outcome measures were time respiratory recovery (SpFi ≥ 315); COVID-19-related 30-day-cumulative mortality after first infusion; and undetectable levels viral RNA.Thirty-three receiving...

Non-pigmented rapidly growing mycobacteria (NPRGM) are widely distributed in water, soil and animals. It has been observed an increasing importance of NPRGM related-infections, particularly due to the high antimicrobial resistance. have rough smooth colony phenotypes, several studies showed that variants more virulent than ones. However, other failed validate this observation. In study, we performed two models, invitro vivo, order assess different pathogenicity these phenotypes. We used...

Mycobacterium chimaera is an opportunistic slowly growing non-tuberculous mycobacteriumof increasing importance due to the outbreak of cases associated with contaminated 3T heater-cooler device (HCD) extracorporeal membrane oxygenator (ECMO). The aim this study was evaluate effect pre-treating a surface Methylobacterium sp. CECT 7180 extract inhibit M. ECMO biofilm as well treatment after different dehydration times. Surface adherence, formation and were evaluated by estimating...
