We interviewed 61 housed and 79 homeless adults aged 55 over about disability; economic, human social capital; stressful life events prior to becoming homeless. Over half of the group had previously led conventional lives. Human capital, capital were more important than disability or economic in predicting homelessness. The younger, likely be male better educated adults, but shorter job tenure fewer ties. Homeless faced multiple, cascading risks, including loss housing loss. Implications for...

Abstract Aims Limited data on the uptake of guideline‐directed medical therapies (GDMTs) and mortality acute decompensated HF (ADHF) patients are available from India. The National Heart Failure Registry (NHFR) aimed to assess clinical presentation, practice patterns, ADHF in Methods results NHFR is a facility‐based, multi‐centre registry consecutive with prospective follow‐up. Fifty three tertiary care hospitals 21 states India participated NHFR. All who satisfied European Society...

Background & Aims: Treatment of hepatorenal syndrome-acute kidney injury (HRS-AKI), with terlipressin and albumin, provides survival benefit, but may be associated cardiopulmonary complications. We analysed the predictors response mortality using point-of-care echocardiography (POC-Echo), cardiac renal biomarkers. Approach: Between December 2021 January 2023, patients HRS-AKI were assessed POC-Echo lung ultrasound within 6h admission, at time starting terlipressin(48h), 72h. Volume expansion...

There is interindividual variation in lipid-lowering response to statins. The objective of this study was investigate whether common genes involved lipid and statin metabolism modify the effect statins on serum total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density concentration coronary artery disease (CAD) patients. We studied association between 18 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) six (HMGCR, CETP, APOAI, ABCB1, CYP3A4, CYP7A1) atorvastatin therapy (20...

Survival outcomes of patients with heart failure (HF) based on their disease etiology are not well described. Here, we provide one-year mortality 10850 HF (mean age = 59.9 years, 31% women) in India. Ischemic (71.9%), dilated cardiomyopathy (17.3), rheumatic (5.4), non-rheumatic valvular (1.9), hypertrophic (0.8), congenital (0.7), peri-partum (0.5), restrictive (0.4), and infective endocarditis (0.1) were the main etiologies. Mortality rate per 100-person years follow-up varied from 13.8...

Objective: To study the epidemiological and clinical profile, angiographic patterns, reasons for delay in presentation, management, outcomes of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) young patients (≤40yrs) presenting to a tertiary care hospital North India. Methods: We included total 182 aged ≤40 years with ACS cardiology critical unit our department from January 2018 July 2019. Results: The mean age population was 35.5 ± 4.7years. 96.2% were males. Risk factors prevalent smoking (56%), hypertension...

Summary Background Point‐of‐care echocardiography (POC‐Echo) is an essential intensive care hemodynamic monitoring tool. Aims To assess POC‐Echo parameters [ i.e ., cardiac index (CI), systemic vascular resistance (SVRI) and cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM) markers] serum biomarkers in predicting circulatory failure (need for vasopressors) mortality patients with acute‐on‐chronic liver (ACLF) having sepsis‐induced hypotension. Methods We performed serial within 6 hours (h) of presentation...
