Introduction . Cystatin C has been used in the critical care setting to evaluate renal function. Nevertheless, it also found correlate with mortality, but is not clear whether this association due acute kidney injury (AKI) or other mechanism. Objective To serum cystatin at intensive unit (ICU) entry predicts AKI and mortality elderly patients. Materials Methods It was a prospective study of ICU patients without admission. We evaluated 400 based on normality for entry, whom 234 (58%) were...
To describe fluid resuscitation practices in Brazilian intensive care units and to compare them with those of other countries participating the Fluid-TRIPS.This was a prospective, international, cross-sectional, observational study convenience sample 27 (including Brazil) using Fluid-TRIPS database compiled 2014. We described patterns use Brazil compared identified factors associated choice. On day, 3,214 patients 3,493 were included, whom 16.1% 26.8% (p < 0.001) received fluids,...
Abstract The authors conducted a subanalysis of the ReHOT (Resistant Hypertension Optimal Treatment) study to evaluate association between endothelial dysfunction and resistant hypertension in population patients treated staged fashion for hypertension. One hundred three hypertensive were followed 6 months participated seven visits (V0‐V6) 28 days apart. There was first phase (V0‐V3) antihypertensive adjustment with drugs determination second randomized (V3‐V6) treatment fourth drug...
Sesamoiditis secondary to gout is an extremely rare condition with few case reports in the literature. It important differential diagnosis because treatment depends on targeted therapy, unlike main causes of sesamoiditis that often involves immobilization special orthoses and prescription anti-inflammatory drugs. We report here a 38-year-old male, athlete, bipartite medial sesamoid, who had insidious pain base left hallux. Laboratory tests showed no alterations, imaging examinations...

Few reports the literature refer to isolated cerebral aspergillosis individuals with no chronic comorbidities. We describe case of 59-year-old rural worker without previous pathologies who had partial convulsive crisis subtle form, self-limiting nonrecurrent secondary generalization. Diagnostic investigation demonstrated subcortical...
Right coronary artery aneurysms are rare and may result from severe disease, with few cases described in the literature. Mortality is high, therapy still controversial. We report case of a 72-year-old woman arterial hypertension, family history who evolved for 2 months episodes palpitations dyspnea on moderate exertion. During evaluation, giant aneurysm was found proximal third right artery. The patient underwent surgical treatment grafting radial to ligation aneurysmal sac, good clinical course.
The prevalence of cerebrovascular complications after cardiac catheterization is low. These include stroke, transient ischemic attack, and amaurosis fugax. Cortical blindness a rare, bilateral clinical condition largely etiology, characterized by damage to the cerebral cortex, which manifests with acute reduction visual acuity. Usually, neuro-ophthalmic are correlated embolic phenomena or migraine. We report case cortical during coronary aortocoronary bypass graft angiography.
