To assess the quality of antifungal use, to propose a point score for this evaluation and estimate potential economic savings an stewardship programme. From December 2010 January 2011, we identified 100 adult inpatients receiving systemic antifungals. Antifungal use was evaluated by means predefined that considered indication, drug selection, dosage, adjustments after microbiology results, switching oral agent length treatment. Total prescriptions [in defined daily doses (DDDs) days therapy...
Knowledge of the quantity and quality apps related to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is lacking. In addition, no directory has been established listing all developed address COVID-19 pandemic. The aim this study was identify smartphone designed pandemic analyze their characteristics. We performed an observational, cross-sectional, descriptive associated with COVID-19. Between April 27 May 2, 2020, we searched App Store (iOS) Google Play (Android) for apps. The search terms used were...
Intravenous drug administration is associated with potential complications, such as phlebitis. The physiochemical characteristics of the infusate play a very important role in some these problems. aim this study was to standardize dilutions intravenous drugs most commonly used hospitalized adult patients and characterize their pH, osmolarity cytotoxic nature better guide selection appropriate vascular access. project conducted three phases: (i) standardization therapy, which using modified...
To identify the frequency of medication administration errors and their potential risk factors in units using a computerized prescription order entry program profiled automated dispensing cabinets.Prospective observational study conducted within two clinical Gastroenterology Department 1537-bed tertiary teaching hospital Madrid (Spain).Medication were measured disguised observation technique. Types severity described. The correlation between was studied to causes. In total, 2314...

Objective
To assess the impact of pharmacist intervention in reducing prescribing errors paediatrics, and to analyse clinical significance reasons behind detected.
Methods
Cross-sectional epidemiological study analysing activities paediatric a maternity children9s hospital with 180 beds, between January 2007 December 2009. The following variables were analysed: pharmacist9s recommendation on patient care, reason for intervention, significance, type negative outcome...

Implementation of robotic systems in outpatient hospital pharmacies is uncommon. Other than cost, 1 the barriers to widespread adoption lack definitive evidence that this technology actually reduces dispensing errors and improves inventory management. To identify frequency medication before after implementation a original pack system an pharmacy analyse impact on quality stock management staff satisfaction.A prospective before-and-after error study was performed using disguised observation...
Background: Evidence about the use of dolutegravir (DTG) and rilpivirine (RPV) as an antiretroviral therapy (ART) in treatment-experienced patients is scarce. Objective: To explore effectiveness, safety, costs switching to a DTG plus RPV regimen this population. Methods: This observational, prospective study included all who switched between November 2014 July 2016. Patients were excluded if resistance mutations integrase inhibitors or found. The effectiveness endpoint was proportion...
Background The large number of available cancer apps and their impact on the population necessitates a transparent, objective, comprehensive evaluation by app experts, health care professionals, users. To date, there have been no analyses or classifications for patients with genitourinary cancers, which are among most prevalent types cancer. Objective objective our study was to analyze quality diagnosed cancers using Mobile Application Rating Scale (MARS) identify high-quality apps. Methods...
The genetic polymorphisms rs2395185 and rs2097432 in HLA genes have been associated with the response to anti-TNF treatment inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). aim was analyze association between these variants long-term drugs pediatric IBD. We performed an observational, multicenter, ambispective study which we selected 340 IBD patients under 18 years of age diagnosed treated from a network Spanish hospitals. Genotypes failure were analyzed using Kaplan-Meier curves Cox logistic regression....
To critically evaluate the causes of preventable adverse drug events during nurse medication administration process in inpatient units with computerized prescription order entry and profiled automated dispensing cabinets to prioritize interventions that need be implemented impact specific on criticality index. This is a failure mode, effects analysis (FMECA) study. A multidisciplinary consensus committee composed pharmacists, nurses doctors evaluated administering medications hospital setting...
Background: Information and communication technologies (ICTs) in oncology can revolutionize the medical care of cancer patients. ICTs promote patients' empowerment real-time disease monitoring. There is limited information about impact patients or their level interest using these tools for greater management condition. Objective: This study aimed to understand ICT usage profile hematology-oncology identify needs determine as a means managing disease. Methods: A 28-item questionnaire was...
To compare the cost of screening for three mutations in dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase gene and costs treating severe fluoropyrimidine-induced neutropenia. The polymorphisms rs3918290 (DPYD*2A), rs67376798 (DPYD 2846A>T) rs55886062 (1679T>G, DPYD*13) were genotyped using real-time PCR, TaqMan probes a rapid cell lysis to provide PCR-ready DNA.We found that genotyping 1000 patients our center €6400 mean neutropenia was €3044. Therefore, if is reduced by DPYD variations at least 2.21 cases per...
Few genetic polymorphisms predict early response to anti-TNF drugs in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and even fewer have been identified the pediatric population. However, it would be of considerable clinical interest identify validate biomarkers long-term response. Therefore, aim study was analyze usefulness anti-TNFs IBD (pIBD) as find differences by type drug. The population comprised 340 children diagnosed with who were treated infliximab or adalimumab. Genotyping 9 selected SNPs for...
Failure of anti-TNF therapy is a real concern in children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) owing to the limited therapeutic arsenal. Anti-TNF drugs modulate immune response, key driver chronic inflammation IBD. Accordingly, we analyzed changes frequency T-lymphocyte and cytokine levels after 6 weeks treatment identify potential biomarkers response drugs. We recruited 77 patients under 18 years age diagnosed IBD treated an drug. Using flow cytometry multiplex ELISA, 31 populations four...
To find out whether SNPs in the transporter gene ATP-binding casette B1 (ABCB1) were related to adverse effects colorectal cancer patients treated with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) or capecitabine.Patients a 5-FU-based therapy (n = 67) capecitabine-based 74) recruited and genotyped for ABCB1 rs1128503 (C1236T), rs2032592 (G2677T/A) rs1045642 (C3435T). Clinical data reactions recorded. genotypes of statistically analyzed association most frequent reactions.Statistical associations observed,...
Linezolid serum trough (Cmin) and peak (Cmax) levels were determined prospectively in 90 patients. Adequate exposure was defined as a Cmin of 2 to 8 mg/liter. Therapy empirical (73.3%) or targeted (26.7%). Wide interindividual variability linezolid recorded (0.1 25.2 μg/ml). Overall, 65.5% the patients had out-of-range, 41.1% subtherapeutic, 24.4% supratherapeutic levels. We did not find correlation between abnormal adverse events, in-hospital mortality, overall poor outcome.
