In Drosophila melanogaster , accessory gland proteins (Acps) that a male transfers during mating affect his reproductive success by altering the female's behaviour and physiology. To test role of condition in expression Acps, we manipulated pre-adult environment examined adult males for relative transcript abundance nine post-copulatory traits Acps influence. Larval culture density had no effect on any measured trait. nutrient availability impacted number sperm transferred stored, male's...

The t(14,18) chromosomal translocation that occurs in human follicular lymphoma constitutively activates the BCL2 gene and disrupts control of apoptosis.Interestingly, 70% translocations are confined to three 15-bp clusters positioned within a 150-bp region (major breakpoint or [MBR]) untranslated portion terminal exon 3. We analyzed DNA-protein interactions MBR, as these may play some role targeting this region. An 87-bp segment (87MBR) immediately 3 cluster was essential for interaction...

The 94-kDa glucose-regulated protein (GRP94) is a glycoprotein in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It has been characterized as Ca2+-binding and molecular chaperone. In this report we show that highly purified GRP94 exhibits an active Mg2+-dependent serine kinase activity (termed 94-kinase). 94-kinase can be recovered from ER membrane fractions able to phosphorylate both constitutive stress-induced forms of GRP94, correlating with their induction kinetics. distinct casein II. contrast...

Abstract During the past 15 years, new treatment paradigms for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nvAMD) have evolved due to advent of intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy and rapid advances in retinal imaging. Recent publications describe eyes with type 1 neovascularization (MNV) as showing more resistance atrophy than other lesion types. We sought explore whether perfusion status native choriocapillaris (CC) surrounding MNV influences its pattern...
