Abstract Common warts (verruca vulgaris) are the most commonly seen benign cutaneous tumors. However, in hands and feet regions often respond poorly to treatment, some resistant more than 6 months of treatment with currently available modalities, including cryotherapy, being defined as refractory warts. We investigated usefulness long‐pulsed neodymium:yttrium–aluminum–garnet ( LP ‐ N d: YAG ) for The clinical trial was conducted on 20 subjects (11 male, nine female) a total 34 lesions...
The multi-antifungal drug-resistant strain (NUBS21012) of Trichophyton rubrum was isolated from a patient with recurrent tinea corporis. resistant encoded Phe at codon 393 instead Leu (L393F) in the squalene epoxidase (SQLE) gene. expression genes encoding ATP-binding cassette transporter proteins increased compared to that other strains. This result provides evidence are closely associated azole resistance.
Lipocalin-2 (LCN2), a protein secreted mainly by activated neutrophils, has been associated with neurodegeneration, obesity, and inflammatory responses. Serum LCN2 concentration reported elevated in patients psoriasis, but lower atopic dermatitis (AD). Spinal astrocyte-derived was found to be involved enhancement of itch mouse model AD. However, the relationship between psoriasis not determined. Objective. This study examined correlation serum levels degrees psoriasis. concentrations were...
ABSTRACT We encountered a 60‐year‐old Japanese female patient with disseminated dermatophytosis caused by terbinafine‐resistant Trichophyton rubrum mutant SQLE (Leu393Phe substitution). Histopathology showed fungus in the dermis, indicating Majocchi granuloma. Oral fosravuconazole and topical luliconazole were administered for 18 months, resulting invasive high β‐ d ‐glucan level of 7320 pg/mL. The MICs amphotericin B, posaconazole, griseofulvin, itraconazole, voriconazole, ravuconazole,...
We herein report the first case of tinea capitis caused by Trichophyton tonsurans that responded to fosravuconazole (F-RVCZ). Clinical improvement was achieved within six weeks after start F-RVCZ therapy, and hairbrush culture test negative. After treatment discontinuation, no relapse symptoms observed, subsequent cultures remained has been suggested as a rapidly acting effective therapeutic agent for this infection. Treatment requires oral antifungal therapy; however, side effects...
Abstract A 73‐year‐old healthy woman noticed black pigmentation on both thumbnails for 6 years. Upon her visit to our clinic, she had pigmented onychomycosis with onycholysis in the distal area. There was no evidence of paronychia. Direct microscopy using Zoomblue™ and histopathological examination showed aggregated blastoconidia. Fontana‐Masson staining confirmed fungal melanin production. combination morphological features genetic testing identified isolates as Candida parapsilosis ....
The incidence of non-dermatophyte mould onychomycosis has been increasing worldwide for the past several decades, but it is not well recognized in Japan. Recent molecular techniques and phylogenetic analyses contributed to identification uncommon emerging species. We came across 13 (0.5%) cases among a total 2,591 106,703 outpatients during 5 years (January 2015-December 2019). included patients with Aspergillus species, 4 Fusarium one patient each Scopulariopsis brevicaulis Botryosphaeria...
Abstract Fosravuconazole is a novel oral antifungal drug developed in Japan and used to treat tinea unguium since 2018. Its excellent absorbability systemic bioavailability has enabled short‐duration therapy of 3 months. Furthermore, no concomitant drugs are contraindicated due the presence mild inhibitor cytochrome P450 enzyme which responsible for polypharmacy adverse effects. Therefore, it can be safely administrated elderly patients. Elderly patients (≥65 years old) with severe...
Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD, MIM 16960) is an autosomal dominant characterized by suprabasal cell separation (acantholysis) of the epidermis. The clinical features vary and include crusted erosions with vesicular pustules, erythematous scaly plaques at sites friction flexures. skin lesions are often exacerbated heat, sweating, mechanical trauma, infection exposure in ultraviolet B (UVB) (1). Patients have a defect ATP2C1 encoding ATPase, Ca2+-transporting, type 2C, member 1; (ATP2C1) on Golgi...
A man in his thirties patient visited previous physician with the chief complaint of a pigmented macule on sole left foot that had steadily grown over past two years. dermoscopic examination lesion showed parallel ridge pattern (PRP); therefore, acral-lentiginous melanoma (ALM) was suspected, and referred to our hospital for more detailed examination. On closer inspection, PRP well-defined irregular border no variation color, which is atypical ALM characterized by asymmetrical structure...
Multi-antifungal-resistant strains of Trichophyton indotineae and rubrum have been isolated in Japan. In the present study, we examined vitro susceptibility terbinafine (TRBF) -resistant isolates T. to efinaconazole (EFCZ) luliconazole (LUCZ). all isolates, minimum inhibitory concentrations were ≥ 32 mg/l for TRBF, < 0.03 16 itraconazole, ravuconazole, 0.5 LUCZ, 4 EFCZ. Of note, NUBS21012 NUBS 19006T showed resistance LUCZ and/or EFCZ unlike other isolates.
