Abstract Terbinafine (TRF) has been used in the treatment of fungal infections for more than 20 years. Recently, TRF‐resistant Trichophyton interdigitale and T. rubrum strains have isolated from human patients worldwide. However, an epidemiological study Japanese not investigated. In present study, antifungal susceptibility testing was performed on clinical isolates to assess TRF‐resistance patterns strains. We also sequenced squalene epoxidase ( SQLE ) encoding gene Two hundred ten were...

Abstract Trichophyton interdigitale is an anthropophilic species that frequently isolated from tinea unguium and pedis throughout the world. In present study, antifungal susceptibility testing was performed on T. isolates Japanese patients (isolated in 2017–2018; 24 strains) to assess itraconazole ( ITZ ) terbinafine TRF of these strains. E‐test determinations revealed mean minimum inhibitory concentration MIC strains 0.023 mg/L (range, 0.064–1). Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute...

Abstract An epidemiological study of antifungal drug‐resistant dermatophytes was conducted as a follow‐up to our 2020 survey. Dermatophytes were isolated in 2022 from the same dermatology clinics previous study. In total, 288 Trichophyton interdigitale and rubrum clinical isolates obtained human cases dermatophytosis Tokyo, Saitama, Shizuoka, Kumamoto, Japan. Four strains found be resistant terbinafine (TRF) susceptible itraconazole (ITZ), luliconazole (LCZ), ravuconazole (RVZ), three other...

We compared the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and fungicidal (MFCs) of azoles in antifungal drug-susceptible, terbinafine-resistant, lowly itraconazole (ITCZ)-susceptible strains dermatophytes. To assess MICs ITCZ, ravuconazole (RVCZ), efinaconazole (EFCZ), luliconazole (LUCZ) isolates, broth microdilution assays were performed based on Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute M38-A2 guidelines with modifications. After for determining MICs, inoculum suspensions wells resuspended,...

An epidemiological study of terbinafine (TBF)-resistant dermatophytes was conducted in 2023 as a follow-up to our 2020 and 2022 surveys. Dermatophytes were isolated from the same dermatology clinics Tokyo, Saitama, Shizuoka, Kumamoto, Japan, previous studies. In total, 311 isolates (122 Trichophyton interdigitale isolates, 1 indotineae isolate, 188 rubrum isolates) obtained human cases dermatophytosis (195 tinea pedis cases, 54 unguium 28 corporis 27 cruris 7 manuum cases). Ten strains (1 T....

Abstract Inflammasomes are multimolecular complexes that control the inflammatory response. The function of inflammasomes in pathogenesis psoriasis is still unclear. To clarify relationship between and pathophysiology psoriasis, particular, to identify molecules interacting with caspase‐1, a crucial component inflammasomes, scale extracts obtained from patients were immunoprecipitated anti‐caspase‐1 antibody analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled electrospray tandem mass spectrometry ( LC...

Multi-antifungal-resistant strains of Trichophyton indotineae and rubrum have been isolated in Japan. In the present study, we examined vitro susceptibility terbinafine (TRBF) -resistant isolates T. to efinaconazole (EFCZ) luliconazole (LUCZ). all isolates, minimum inhibitory concentrations were ≥ 32 mg/l for TRBF, < 0.03 16 itraconazole, ravuconazole, 0.5 LUCZ, 4 EFCZ. Of note, NUBS21012 NUBS 19006T showed resistance LUCZ and/or EFCZ unlike other isolates.

Abstract Trichophyton mentagrophytes were isolated from 19 of 20 guinea pigs in a children's corner zoo. The nucleotide sequence identity the internal transcribed spacer region among pig isolates was 99%, including reference strain animal type 3 T. . genomic DNA all investigated for mating ( MAT ) gene by specific polymerase chain reaction. alpha‐box detected isolates, while high‐mobility‐group HMG only one isolates. Therefore, population harbored at least 2 types Arthroderma vanbreuseghemii...

We conducted antifungal susceptibility testing on itraconazole (ITCZ)-resistant isolates of Trichophyton interdigitale and rubrum collected from Japanese patients in 2021 2022. The aim the present study was to determine most effective drug against ITCZ-resistant strains dermatophytes. In all isolates, minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were > 32 mg/l for ITCZ, < 0.03 0.5 ravuconazole (RVCZ), efinaconazole (EFCZ), luliconazole (LUCZ), terbinafine (TRBF). Thus, tinea unguium cases with...

Ravuconazole (RVCZ) is a new human anti-fungal azole drug available in Japan since 2018 and broad-spectrum agent that exhibits excellent activity against dermatophytes. In the present study, vitro RVCZ susceptibility of clinical isolates anthropophilic dermatophytes, including Trichophyton interdigitale strains with either low to itraconazole (ITCZ) or resistance terbinafine (TEBR), was investigated using Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute M38-A2 test. The MICs RCVZ for 20 T. were <...
