Abstract Background: Mitochondria are the main sites for fatty acid oxidation and play a central role in lipotoxicity nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. Aims: We investigated whether carnitine prevents free ( FFA )‐induced vitro vivo . Methods: HepG2 cells were incubated with , along complexes. Mitochondrial β‐oxidation, transmembrane potential, intracellular ATP levels changes mitochondrial copy number morphology analysed. Otsuka Long‐Evans Tokushima Fatty rats segregated into three experimental...

H. pylori is classified as a group I carcinogen by WHO because of its involvement in gastric cancer development. Several reports have suggested anti-bacterial effects menadione, although the effect menadione on major virulence factors and pylori-induced inflammation yet to be elucidated. In this study, therefore, we demonstrated that has anti-H. anti-inflammatory effects. Menadione inhibited growth reference strains clinical isolates. reduced expression vacA pylori, translocation VacA...

Abstract Background: Interindividual genetic differences in susceptibility to chemical carcinogens are among the most important host factors human cancer. The present study was undertaken reveal association between polymorphism of CYP2E1 (CYP2E1/ Pst I and CYP2E1/ Dra I) with gastric cancer development Koreans. Methods: In study, 120 patients 145 controls no history tumors were analyzed. determined by polymerase chain reaction‐restriction fragment length polymorphisms (PCR‐RFLP), or PCR...

Background: The aim of this study was to determine when primary metacarpal corrective osteotomy is recommended in patients with Flatt type IV radial polydactyly. Methods: A total 78 polydactyly were included. authors performed if the angulation metacarpophalangeal joint not correctable by intraoperative stress test. measured deviation angle thumb simple posteroanterior radiographs. clinical outcomes assessed using Japanese Society for Surgery Hand evaluation score and correction angle. NAD(P)H:Quinone Oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) C609T missense variant (NQO1*2) and 29 basepair (bp)-insertion/deletion (I29/D) polymorphism of the NRH:Quinone 2 (NQO2) gene promoter have been proposed as predictive prognostic factors for cancer development progression. The purpose this study is to investigate relationship between NQO1/NQO2 genotype clinico-pathological features papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC). Genomic DNA was isolated from 243 patients; clinical data were retrospectively...

We studied the effects of extract aerial parts hydroponically cultured ginseng (HGE) on alcohol-induced liver damage (AILD) in mice.AILD was induced by oral administration ethanol (EtOH) (25%; 5 g/kg body weight) for seven days study as well EtOH-only groups. However, HGE (4 and 12 mg/kg) orally administered (once daily ten consecutive days) only to group, three prior EtOH treatment. The HGE-treated group showed significantly lower levels alanine aminotransferase aspartate than group.In...

ABSTRACT The human specific bacterial pathogen Helicobacter pylori ( H. ) is a Gram-negative microaerophilic bacterium and associated with severe gastric diseases such as peptic ulceration cancer. Recently, the increasing resistance emergence of adverse effects make usage antibiotics less effectively. Therefore, development new antimicrobial agent required to control infection. In current study, it has been demonstrated inhibitory effect β-caryophyllene on growth protective against infection...

Many of the crime scene evidences are collected by transferring body fluids that attached to surface using a tool such as sterile cotton swab or tape. The amount transferred collection directly affects possibility DNA profiling. In this study, recovery rate and detection profile were examined swabs, rubber coating agents urethane-based adhesives from porous materials. We prepared samples spraying 100㎕ diluted blood on their surface, each sample was swab, agent, adhesive, rates compared....

Numerous methods for human body fluid identification using microbiological markers specific to different parts are well-established in forensic science. However, method vaginal screening have not been standardized yet. Therefore, this study, a real-time polymerase chain reaction based assay was devised bacteria residing vagina. This employed three markers, namely Lactobacillus iners, crispatus, and Bacteroides fragilis. L. iners crispatus were chosen due their high abundance the vagina,...
