Effects of pre-germinated brown rice (PGBR) on streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats were studied. The feeding a PGBR diet to ameliorated the elevation blood glucose and PAI-1 concentrations significantly, tended decrease plasma lipid peroxide in comparison with fed white diet. These results suggest that intake instead is effective for prevention vascular complications.

The stromal cell line ST2, derived from mouse bone marrow, differentiated into osteoblast-like cells in response to ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid induced alkaline phosphatase (ALPase) activity, the expression of mRNAs for proteins that are markers osteoblastic differentiation, deposition calcium, and formation mineralized nodules by ST2 cells. We investigated mechanism whereby differentiation Inhibitors collagen triple helices completely blocked effects on cells, an indication matrix type I...

Polyphenol have been reported to physiological effects with respect alleviating diseases such as osteoporosis and osteopetrosis. We recently that the olive polyphenol hydroxytyrosol accelerates bone formation both in vivo vitro. The effects of natriuretic peptides on the proliferation and differentiation osteoblast-like cells from rat calvariae were examined. Natriuretic are physiological agonists that activate receptor guanylate cyclases, namely, peptide (NPR)-A NPR-B. Exposure to atrial (ANP) C-type (CNP) resulted in large increases rate intracellular production guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cGMP). Moreover, CNP-like immunoreactivity was detected conditioned medium cells, while ANP undetectable. In exposed...

We investigated effect on differentiation activation osteoclasts. used cocultures mouse spleen ST2 cells, cultures osteoclast progenitor {M-CSF-dependent (MD) from marrow murine monocytic RAW 264 (RAW) cells}. Quercetin dose-dependently inhibited osteoclast-like (OCL) cell formation at 2—5 μM concentration both coculture MD culture....

Natriuretic peptide receptor-B (NPR-B) was identified in rat chondrocytes, and its physiological functions were investigated.Rat tissues, including the xiphoid cartilage, brain, lung, liver, adrenal gland, kidney, screened for NPR-B activity, which we assayed by receptor guanylate cyclase activity specifically stimulated C-type natriuretic (CNP), a known selective activator of NPR-B.Cartilage showed distinctly higher activity.Furthermore, exposure cultured chondrocytes to CNP M) resulted...

Abstract The ability of mammalian central nervous system (CNS) neurons to survive and/or regenerate following injury is influenced by surrounding glial cells. To identify the factors that control cell function CNS injury, we have focused on endothelin B receptor (ET R), which show expressed majority astrocytes are immunoreactive for acid fibrillary protein (GFAP) in both normal and crushed rabbit optic nerve. Optic nerve crush induces a marked increase ET R GFAP immunoreactivity (IR) without...

Significance Mammalian B lymphocytes make antibodies of five different heavy chain isotypes, IgM, IgD, IgG, IgE, and IgA. The isotypes are produced at discrete stages in B-cell development from a single immunoglobulin ( Igh ) gene, either by irreversible rearrangement the gene to or IgA alternative splicing RNA transcribed coexpress IgM IgD. Developmentally regulated trans-acting factors have been hypothesized control IgD expression large RNAs, but these remained elusive for several decades....

It has been assumed that prostaglandin (PG)I2 signaling contributes to the negative growth control of lung cancer cells; however, mechanism remains unresolved.
