Objective: To test whether oxidative stress could promote a systemic acute-phase response in elderly patients with type II diabetes. Design and Methods: In group of 30 older diabetic poor glycemic control, serum levels lipid peroxides, measured as thiobarbituric acid-reacting substances (TBARS); C-reactive protein (CRP); interleukin (IL)-6 the soluble form its receptor (sIL-6R), were evaluated at baseline after 2 3 months therapeutic intervention. Thirty asymptomatic, untreated individuals...

Abstract Background Stage II and III colorectal cancer (CRC) poses a significant challenge due to rising global incidence mortality rates. Despite advancements in screening treatment, there’s pressing need for reliable prognostic biomarkers. Tumor budding emerges as promising marker associated with poor prognosis higher recurrence. However, its incorporation into clinical guidelines differs when considering adjuvant treatment. This study assesses tumor budding’s value recurrence stage CRC,...

181 Background: Patients with microsatellite-instability–high (MSI-H) or deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) colorectal cancer (CRC) represent a unique subgroup of patients evolving treatment opportunities. Methods: We included all the pathologically confirmed diagnosis CRC at Hospital Universitario La Paz from October 2016 to September 2020. Results: A total 1,152 were diagnosed CRC. IHC for MMR was available in 1,014 patients. Of those, 100 (9,8%) MLH1 and PSM2 (n = 78), MSH2 MSH6 12), PMS2...

K-ras activating point mutations appear to have a role in human lung cancer, however, the prognostic significance of these abnormalities remains unclear. The aim our work was clarify as indicators patients affected by non-small cell cancer (NSCLC). We studied 94 resected primary NSCLCs for PCR-RFLP technique, followed sequencing. were present 34% tumors, higher incidence being detected adenocarcinomas. Comparing impact mutation types, we found that transversions associated with shorter...

Background: The prognosis of patients with stage II and III colon cancer is heterogeneous. Clinical pathological characteristics, such as tumor budding, may help to further refine the recurrence risk. Methods: We included all localized at Hospital Universitario La Paz from October 2016 2021. built a prognostic score for in training cohort based on multivariate cox regression analysis categorized into two risk groups. Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6) inhibitors are usually combined with fulvestrant or aromatase for the treatment of patients metastatic breast cancer (mBC). Drug-drug interactions may affect absorption by different mechanims, instance, modification digestive pH. Proton pump (PPIs) known to reduce oral bioavailability some anticancer drugs. Palbociclib is a weak base pH-dependent solubility, therefore variations in gastric pH could its absorption. The objective this study was evaluate...

Coronary angiography results were normal. Immune checkpoint inhibitor-related myocarditis suspected, high-dose corticosteroid treatment started. Cardiac magnetic resonance showed edema, suggesting stress cardiomyopathy. (Level of Difficulty: Beginner.).
