Abstract An outbreak of infection with the Nipah virus, a novel paramyxovirus, occurred among pig farmers between September 1998 and June 1999 in Malaysia, involving 265 patients 105 fatalities. This is follow‐up study 24 months after outbreak. Twelve survivors (7.5%) acute encephalitis had recurrent neurological disease (relapsed encephalitis). Of those who initially nonencephalitic or asymptomatic infection, 10 (3.4%) late‐onset encephalitis. The mean interval first episode time initial...

Background: An outbreak of viral encephalitis occurred among pig industry workers in Malaysia September 1998 to April 1999. The was attributed a new paramyxovirus, Nipah virus. This is description the clinical features 103 patients treated Seremban Hospital with characterization prognostic factors. Methods: Clinical case records and laboratory investigations were reviewed. definition was: from area, direct contact or close proximity pigs, CSF encephalitis. Results: mean age 38 years, 89%...

Tioman virus, a relatively new paramyxovirus, was isolated from fruit bats (Pteropus species) on Island, Malaysia, in 2001. The objective of this study to determine the prevalence antibodies T. virus island inhabitants, by use comparative ELISA and serum neutralization assays. Of 169 human sera analyzed, 5 (∼3.0%) were positive for ELISA. these sera, 3 (1.8% total) had neutralizing against suggesting previous infection population or similar virus.

Psoriasis is a common chronic skin condition characterized by excessive inflammation and aberrant epidermal proliferation. Flightless I (Flii) an actin-remodelling protein that regulates these processes, suggesting possible role in psoriasis. We sought to determine whether benefit psoriasiform dermatitis might occur after modulating Flii gene expression or reducing its levels using neutralizing antibodies.Biopsies of psoriatic lesions from patients were assessed for levels. Psoriasis-like...

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic pruritic inflammatory skin disease characterized by excessive inflammation and disrupted barrier function. Although the aetiology of AD not completely understood, clinical basic studies suggest increasing involvement autoantibodies against intracellular proteins. An actin remodelling protein, Flightless I (Flii), has been shown to promote development mediated conditions impairment Here we sought determine effect altering Flii expression on its contribution...

Intro: Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a major public health problem around the world.Due lack of effective vaccines and emergence drug resistance in bacteria, development leads with novel mechanisms few side effects is critical.Pantothenate kinase (PANK) involved synthesis Coenzyme A (CoA), an important cofactor component Mycobacterium tuberculosis metabolism. These findings suggest that Pank would target for antimicrobials action. Methods: In this endeavour, ligand-based pharmacophore...
