The authors propose a novel method of estimating the nonlinear elastic properties based on analysis arterial diameter against pressure curves derived from ultrasonic and photoplethysmographic measurements. An echo tracking device has been developed that allows continuous recording internal peripheral arteries. It measures 300 times per second with resolution 2.5 mu m. This system is linked to commercially available light-plethysmograph which continuously records finger (0.25 kPa accuracy)....

We report that the efflux of 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein anions from neutral egg yolk phosphatidylcholine vesicles is mediated by oligo/polyarginines only in presence activating amphiphilic anions. Screening anion activators reveals best synergism for carboxylates (fullerene ≫ calix[4]arene ≈ coronene > pyrene calix[6]arene alkyl), whereas sulfates show less satisfactory activation despite often lower effective concentrations. The analogous alcohols and one diphosphate were inactive. These...

The water soluble p-sulfonatocalix[n]arenes (n = 4, 6 and 8) (14, 16 18) show glycosylaminoglycan (GAG) mimicry, being both active antithrombotics modulators of lysyloxidase activity. In order to understand how these synthetic receptors interact with GAG receptor sequences, we have undertaken a study thermodynamically characterize the binding dipeptides tripeptides bearing lysine or arginine residues by 14, 18 in aqueous buffer at pH 8.0 298.15 K. association constants, enthalpies entropies...

The cis:trans ratios were determined by 1 H‐NMR. (or) GLC. They showed that steric factors play an important role in control stereochemistry these reactions.
