In this study we evaluate the capacity of Virtual Hybridization to identify between highly related bacterial strains. Eight genomic fingerprints were obtained by virtual hybridization for Bacillus anthracis genome set, and a set 15,264 13-nucleotide short probes designed produce unique each organism. The data from fingerprint used obtain patterns simulating DNA microarray. Two methods used: Direct Extended method number potential sites thus determine minimum sensitivity value discriminate...
Limited data are available regarding microbial contamination in oregano. This study aimed to evaluate the microbiological quality and presence of diarrheagenic Escherichia coli pathotypes nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) 85 oregano samples purchased from different markets Mexico City. All analyzed were positive for aerobic-mesophilic bacteria, with limits ranging 1.14 6.5 log CFU/g. A total 67, 41, 9 coliforms, fecal E. coli, respectively, present at concentrations <3 >1,100 MPN/g....
An Influenza Probe Set (IPS) consisting in 1,249 9-mer probes for genomic fingerprinting of closely and distantly related Virus strains was designed tested silico. The IPS derived from alignments genomes. RNA segments 5,133 influenza having diverse degree relatedness were concatenated aligned. After alignment, sites high Shannon entropy searched. Additional criteria such as: G+C content between 35 to 65%, absence dimer or trimer consecutive repeats, a minimum 2 differences 9mers selecting...
