Abstract Some patients who recover from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have prolonged symptoms such as dyspnea, fatigue, cough, and dysosmia for longer than 120 days after symptom onset. In addition, some recovered COVID-19 reported hair loss a few months the onset of disease. Alopecia is late-onset COVID-19. The cause alopecia unknown; however, androgenic telogen effluvium are possible causes.
BackgroundEvidence of post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) in the Alpha- and Delta-variant dominant waves is limited.MethodsIn a nationwide multicentre cohort study collaboration with 20 hospitals, we collected data using self-administered questionnaires electronic medical records participants aged or more diagnosed COVID-19, hospitalized between Apr 1 2021 Sept 30 2021, discharged alive. Descriptive statistics were analyzed for PCC mental health (HADS anxiety depression scores), comparing Alpa...
The empirical basis for a quantitative assessment of the disease burden imposed by long-COVID is currently scant. We aimed to inform caused in Japan. We conducted cross sectional self-report questionnaire survey. was mailed 526 eligible patients, who were recovered from acute COVID-19 April 2021. Answers classified into two groups; participants have no symptom and those any ongoing prolonged symptoms that lasted longer than four weeks at time estimated average treatment effect (ATE) on EQ-VAS...
The aim of this study was to investigate the epidemiology post-COVID conditions beyond 12 months and identify factors associated with persistence each condition. This a cross-sectional questionnaire-based survey. We conducted survey among patients who had recovered from COVID-19 visited our institute between February 2020 November 2021. Demographic clinical data regarding presence duration were obtained. We identified using multivariable linear regression analyses.Of 1148 surveyed patients,...
Introduction: Old age is an independent risk factor (RF) for severe COVID-19; evidence clinico-epidemiological characteristics among elderly COVID-19 patients scarce. We aimed to analyze clinical and epidemiological comorbidities associated with inpatients in age-stratified populations of cohort. Methods: conducted a retrospective cohort study, using nationwide registry data hospitalized before October 31, 2020...
Secretory immunoglobulin A (IgA) plays a crucial role in mucosal immunity for preventing the invasion of exogenous antigens; however, little is understood about neutralizing activity serum IgA. Here, to examine IgA antibodies against COVID-19 illnesses, we determined serum/plasma IgG and purified from previously SARS-CoV-2-infected mRNA vaccine-receiving individuals. We found that possesses substantial but rather modest SARS-CoV-2 compared with no significant correlation disease severity....
BackgroundAntibody testing can easily evaluate the clinical status of patients, aid in diagnosis multisystem inflammatory syndrome, and monitor immunity level population. However, applicability serological tests detecting antibodies against severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spike-binding protein remains limited. This study aimed to quantify both serum-derived neutralizing immunoglobulin-G (IgG) antibody activity amount anti-SARS-CoV-2 Spike-IgG (S-IgG) convalescent...
Thyroid hormones play crucial roles in the development and functional maintenance of central nervous system. Despite extensive studies neural function thyroid hormones, little is known about effects hypothyroidism on behavioural traits mechanisms underlying such effects. In present study, we report an investigation congenitally hypothyroid mutant rdw rats, revealing a novel The rats were subjected to analyses as rotarod test, open field test circadian activity measurement. To determine cause...
Abstract In early 2020, Japan repatriated 566 nationals from China. Universal laboratory testing and 14-day monitoring of returnees detected 12 cases severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection; initial screening results were negative for 5. Common outcomes remaining asymptomatic (n = 4) pneumonia 6). Overall, performed poorly.
Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is associated with a wide range of post-acute sequelae. The prevalence erectile dysfunction (ED) that developed after COVID-19 and the underlying factors were analyzed based on questionnaire survey, Recovery Study II in Japan. A case-control study was conducted those or without ED one two years hospitalized between March September 2021. Six hundred nine Japanese men, median age 48 years, analyzed. During period, 116 subjects (19.0%) had dysfunction....
Due to the significant spread of a new type coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection (COVID-19) in China, Chinese government blockaded several cities Hubei Province. Japanese citizens lost means transportation return back Japan. The National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM) helped operation charter flights evacuation residents from Province, this article outlines our experiences. A total five were dispatched, majority returnees (793/829 [95.7%]) handled at NCGM. large number personnel...
The aim of this study was to describe the emergence in Nepal clinical isolates Klebsiella pneumoniae harboring both blaNDM-5 and blaOXA-181/-232.Six K. highly resistant carbapenems aminoglycosides were obtained from inpatients Nepal. Their whole genomes sequenced by a next generation sequencer. The minimum inhibitory concentrations meropenem, amikacin ciprofloxacin ≥128 μg/ml, >1024 μg/ml ≥256 respectively. All six co-harbored blaNDM-5, blaOXA-181 or -232 rmtB. Of them, 1 also harbored rmtF....
Early detection of coronavirus disease 2019 in patients likely to develop severe manifestations enables appropriate interventions, including rapid ICU admission. This study was conducted determine whether noninvasive urine biomarkers can predict the clinical severity 2019.Not applicable. This is single-center study, national center hospital designated for infectious disease. Fifty-eight who tested positive acute respiratory syndrome 2 specimens through real-time reverse...
Since April 2017, a dengue fever outbreak has been ongoing in Côte d'Ivoire. We diagnosed (type 2 virus) traveler returning to Japan from Phylogenetic analysis revealed strain homology with the Burkina Faso 2016 strain. This case may serve as an alert possible disease spread outside Africa.
