Inoperable chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) managed medically has a poor prognosis. Balloon angioplasty (BPA) offers new treatment for inoperable patients. The national BPA service the UK opened in October 2015 and we now describe of our initial patient cohort.

Abstract Aims Accurate staging of hypertension-related cardiac changes, before the development significant left ventricular hypertrophy, could help guide early prevention advice. We evaluated whether a novel semi-supervised machine learning approach generate clinically meaningful summary score remodelling in hypertension. Methods and results A contrastive trajectories inference was applied to data collected from three UK studies young adults. Low-dimensional variance identified 66...

Introduction In pulmonary vascular disease exercise, abnormalities can include reduced exercise capacity, oxygen pulse and elevated VE/VCO 2 . The association of clinical measures such as six‐minute walk work, haemodynamics, lung function echocardiogram to peak VO , O has not been fully investigated in disease. Aims To determine the relationship work other Additionally, investigate ability predict from parameters. Methods Clinical data was retrospectively analysed 63 chronic thromboembolic...

<h3>Introduction</h3> Chronic thromboembolic disease (CTED) is a consequence of failure thrombus resolution following pulmonary embolism. Thrombotic material becomes fibrosed, resulting in chronic vascular occlusion without hypertension. The prevalence and incidence the condition unknown mechanisms behind exercise intolerance are poorly understood. Surgical management selected cases may significantly improve symptoms patient functioning.1 <h3>Methods</h3> We prospectively...

SummaryTwo-hundred and ten patients from general practice with a mean age of 75 years were assessed for the signs symptoms potassium deficiency, before after receiving supplement ('Slow-K') 8.06 mEq. three times day. The assessment included haemoglobin levels, diet, symptomatic ratings. Following treatment, 86% showed improvement, there was highly significant increase in levels 3.8 to 4.4 mEq./l. Interestingly slight but 12.1 12.8 g./100ml. It not possible, because trial design, correlate...

<b>Background:</b> Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is attributed to the effects of on left function. LVDD however prevalent older populations and may exist independent CTEPH, moreover CTEPH mask by reducing LV filling. <b>Methods:</b> Consecutive individuals undergoing endarterectomy (PEA) for between 2007 2018 were included (n = 1266). atrial pressure elevation was denoted a arterial wedge (PAWP) &gt; 15mmHg....

<h3>Background</h3> The National Echocardiography Database of the United Kingdom (NED-UK) pilot study demonstrates feasibility extracting echocardiographic (echo) 'big data' from NHS databases in a standardised way. Our aim was to demonstrate utility NED-UK data by showing associations echo reported variables with patient outcomes, specifically time cardiac surgery (bypass grafting and/or valve replacement or repair). <h3>Methods</h3> Data were collected under 'EchoVision' project (UK HRA...

<h3>Background &amp; Aim</h3> Large curated datasets of clinical echocardiographic measurements with associated interpretation are scarce. Due to standardised protocols and diverse patient populations, the UK offers a unique opportunity link data study outcomes through nationwide records primary care visits, hospitalisations, mortality. <h3>Our aims were to</h3> 1) Develop toolkit for extraction anonymisation 2) Implement in first NHS Trust demonstrate feasibility. <h3>Methods</h3> The...

<h3>Introduction</h3> Patients with chronic thromboembolic disease (CTED) without pulmonary hypertension commonly present dyspnoea and fatigue. These symptoms limit physical function impair quality of life. As resting haemodynamics in these patients are normal or near normal, stress testing may be a useful investigation to clarify mechanisms functional impairment. <h3>Methods</h3> We prospectively evaluated baseline characteristics CTED single referral centre between January 2015 June 2016....

<b>Background:</b> Peak VO2 is the gold standard for assessing exercise capacity but 6 minute walk distance (6MWD) mostly used surrogate measure. However, body mass may influence predictive ability of 6MWD. Hence, work (6MWW=6MWD X bodyweight) an alternative measure has not been fully investigated in all pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) groups. <b>Aims:</b> In PVD patients; 1) To determine whether 6MWW and/or other clinical parameters correlate with peak VO2. 2)...

<h3>Introduction</h3> Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) results in diastolic dysfunction and left atrial (LA) dilatation. Little is known about whether LA size or function relate to the presence of inter-atrial conduction delay (IACD). Hence, our purpose was assess relationship between IACD, ventricular filling &amp; HCM.
