Escherichia albertii is a recently recognized close relative of coli . This emerging enteropathogen possesses type III secretion system (T3SS) encoded by the locus enterocyte effacement, similar to enteropathogenic and enterohemorrhagic E. (EPEC EHEC). Shiga toxin-producing strains have also been identified. The genomic features , particularly differences from other species, not yet well clarified. Here, we sequenced genome 29 (3 complete 26 draft sequences) isolated multiple sources...

Abstract Spotted fever group (SFG) rickettsiae are obligate intracellular Gram-negative bacteria mainly associated with ticks. In Japan, several hundred cases of Japanese spotted fever, caused by Rickettsia japonica , reported annually. Other species also known to exist in ixodid ticks; however, their phylogenetic position and pathogenic potential poorly understood. We conducted a nationwide cross-sectional survey on questing ticks understand the overall diversity SFG Japan. Out 2,189...

However, the outbreak dominated M-Me cases not thoroughly investigated worldwide. largest importation-related with genotype D8 occurred Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, from March to April 2017. This phenomenon was observed after Japan had achieved elimination 2015. We confirmed 60 detecting genome virus (MeV). Among cases, 38 were and 22 T-Me. Thirty-nine (65.0%)...

Abstract In many countries with low to moderate tuberculosis (TB) incidence, cases have shifted elderly persons. It is unclear, however, whether these are associated recent Mycobacterium transmission or represent reactivation of past disease. During 2009–2015, we performed a population-based TB investigation in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, using in-depth contact tracing and 24-loci variable-number tandem-repeat typing optimized for Beijing family M. strains. We analyzed 494 strains, which 387...

Oz virus (OZV) was isolated from an Amblyomma tick in Japan and shown to cause lethal viral myocarditis humans. However, the natural reservoirs distribution of OZV remain unknown. We describe epidemiologic studies conducted by using serum samples collected mammals throughout Japan. The results showed that 27.5% wild boars, 56.1% Sika deer, 19.6% Japanese macaques, 51.0% Asian black bears were positive for virus-neutralizing antibodies against OZV. This study investigated HEV infection and viral shedding wild boars, sika deer, Japanese serows across Japan. A total of 1896 serum samples were tested for anti-HEV antibodies, 1034 RNA, 473 fecal shedding. Anti-HEV antibodies detected boars from all seven prefectures studied, while RNA was Fukuoka, Oita, Miyazaki...
