Poly-ADP ribose polymerase 1 (PARP-1) is activated by DNA damage and has been implicated in the repair of single-strand breaks (SSBs). Involvement PARP-1 other responses remains controversial. In this study, we show that required for replication fork slowing on damaged DNA. Fork progression PARP-1−/− DT40 cells not slowed down even presence induced topoisomerase I inhibitor camptothecin (CPT). Mammalian treated with a PARP or PARP-1–specific small interfering RNAs similar results. The...

A complementary DNA encoding DNA-dependent ATPase Q1 possessing helicase activity, which is the major in human cell extracts, was cloned from a cDNA library of KB cells. The predicted amino acid sequence has seven consecutive motifs conserved RNA and super family belongs to DEXH family. homology search indicated that had 47% regions with Escherichia coli RecQ protein. Three bands 4.0, 3.3, 2.2 kilobases were detected HeLa cells by Northern blotting. Analysis genomic presence homologous gene...

Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) is used for treating lung tumors but can cause toxic effects, including life-threatening damage to central structures. Retrospective data suggested that small up 10 cm3 in volume be well controlled with a biologically effective dose less than 100 Gy.

Several recent studies have shown that oligometastatic disease has curative potential, although it was previously considered to signal a patient's last stage of life. Stereotactic body radiotherapy been available for extra-cranial metastases in addition stereotactic cranial brain metastases. The aim the present study retrospectively evaluate clinical outcomes patients with lesions.Between 1999 and 2008, 41 five or fewer detectable were treated at our institution. lesions brain, lung adrenal...

Abstract Background and Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of intra‐arterial 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU) subcutaneous interferon (IFN) combined with image‐guided radiation therapy (IGRT) in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT). Methods: Twenty HCC patients PVTT were treated 5‐FU IFN (IGRT group), as controls, 20 alone (non‐IGRT group). Overall survival (OS) time, response rates, time to progression (TTP) safety compared across groups. Results: Complete (CR),...

We investigated whether niacin-related compounds had radical-scavenging activity by electron spin resonance methods. Many compounds, but not trigonelline, against hydroxyl radicals. However, for the nitric oxide radical and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical, only nicotinic acid hydrazide isonicotinic scavenging activities. These results suggest that moiety of might have an important role in abilities various

A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method was developed for the rapid detection of beer-spoilage heterofermentative lactic acid bacterium Lactobacillus lindneri. Three strains, Chinese brewery isolate DA1, Japanese commercial beer BG2, and SE3, which were serologically classified as belonging to L. lindneri, used in this study. After sequencing 16S rDNA isolates DA1 BG2 typical brevis L63, these sequences compared with published data. lindneri specific PCR primer, DA-40, then constructed...

Abstract We developed a synchrotron‐based real‐time‐image gated‐spot‐scanning proton‐beam therapy (RGPT) system and utilized it to clinically operate on moving tumors in the liver, pancreas, lung, prostate. When spot‐scanning technique is linked gating, beam delivery time with gating can increase, compared that without gating. aim clarify whether total treatment process be performed within approximately 30 min (the general per session several proton facilities), even for implanted fiducial...

BackgroundIn Real-time-image Gated spot-scanning Proton Therapy (RGPT), the dose distribution is distorted by gold fiducial markers placed in prostate. Distortion can be suppressed using small and more than two fields, but additional fields may increase to organs at risk. Therefore, we conducted a prospective study evaluate safety short-term clinical outcome of RGPT for prostate cancer.MethodsBased on previously reported frequency early adverse events (AE) non-inferiority margin 10%,...
