Management of severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) has changed significantly in recent years, different treatments now available including biologics and endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), although there are still few comparative studies. We aimed to compare 1-year outcomes patients CRSwNP treated dupilumab or ESS plus intranasal corticosteroids (INCS).
Background/Objectives: Benralizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-5 receptor (IL-5Rα), leading to rapid depletion of blood eosinophils. RCTs have demonstrated efficacy in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA). The aim this study was assess benralizumab on sinonasal outcomes real-life setting SEA and concomitant chronic rhinosinusitis nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Methods: We included 25 (mean age: 57.47 years, range: 35–77, F/M = 12:13) who were prescribed 30 mg...
To quantify inner ear fluid changes in patients with audiovestibular deficits by measuring signal intensity values; to correlate the values of structures and audio-vestibular impairment severity. 26 unilateral vestibulocochlear underwent hearing vestibular assessments were categorised into severity classes using audiological deficit scores. Normalised extracted from 3D-T2-WI-MRI scans (nT2mean, nT2Max, nT2min) ratios calculated unaffected as a reference. Asymmetry nT2Max nT2mean volumetric...
Background The 8th edition of tumor, node, metastasis (TNM) classification incorporates depth invasion evaluation in the staging oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma, since it is a predictor nodal and an independent prognostic factor. Although histopathological definition clear, accurate method for its radiological assessment has not yet been validated. Purpose To investigate role MRI-derived tongue carcinoma to assess inter-reader agreement radiological–pathological correlation. Material...
Abstract A case of carotid artery stenting with an AngioGuard cerebral protection device is described in a patient tight internal stenosis. Deployment induced sudden severe vasospasm, subsequent minor stroke. According to our observations, may cause vasospastic response adverse neurologic effects. This study aims to determine the prevalence and types of Onodi cells through computed tomography investigate relationship between cell surrounding structures, paying particular attention risky proximity optic nerve canal.
Background: Reperfusion remains the definitive treatment for acute myocardial infarction (AMI), but restoring blood flow carries potential to exacerbate ischemia-related injury. Postconditioning might modify reperfusion-induced adverse events. Study Design: The POSTconditioning during Coronary Angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction (POST-AMI) trial is a single-center, prospective, randomized study, with planned inclusion of 78 patients ST-elevation...
This study aimed to assess changes in the posterior cranial fossa (PCF) shed light on mechanism of cerebellar herniation children with Costello syndrome (CS) and crowding. We performed a morphovolumetric PCF analysis brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) seven CS (mean age 31 ± 16 months) comparing MRI scans those age-matched healthy subjects.PCF volume (PCFV), (PCFBV) (CeV) were assessed axial T2-weighted MRI. Morphometric parameters (diameters foramen magnum, tentorial angle, basiocciput,...
Objective. Polidocanol sclerotherapy of head and neck venous malformations (VMs) lymphatic (LMs) has been reported only in limited series. In this manuscript we evaluated the efficacy safety polidocanol a series malformations. Methods. This retrospective observational study analysed data on 20 VMs LMs that underwent to percutaneous or endoscopic intra-lesional 3% microfoam at our institution. Clinical response was ranked as excellent, moderate poor based volume reduction by MRI resolution...
Abstract Pentoxifylline (PTX) is extensively metabolized in the body, and all its 3 plasma metabolites (M1, M4, M5) are pharmacologically active. The authors evaluated pharmacokinetics of PTX 20 patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Eleven had moderate 9 severe CHF. time courses PTX, M1, M5 levels were determined after oral administration a sustained‐release 600‐mg tablet for each compound, AUC, maximal concentration (C max ), to C (T peak ) calculated. Compared CHF, those CHF showed...
Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) is the major cause of graft failure and death in cardiac transplant recipients after transplantation. We aimed to evaluate clinical angiographic outcomes patients with evidence CAV who were treated percutaneously drug-eluting stents (DES-PCI).Between December 2002 September 2005, we reviewed baseline procedural characteristics outcome consecutive transplanted DES-PCI, eligible for at least 9 months follow-up.Fifteen received a total 18 coronary DESs....
