We describe detection of SAT2 topotype XIV foot-and-mouth disease viruses in western Asia during 2022-2023. Sequences show the originated eastern Africa and were introduced into on >1 occasion. The rapid spread naive animals highlights risks for onward transmission potential endemicity Asia.

This report describes the characterization of a new genotype foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) type A responsible for recent FMD outbreaks in Middle East. Initially identified samples collected 2003 from Iran, during 2005 and 2006 this FMDV lineage (proposed to be named A-Iran-05) spread into Saudi Arabia Jordan then further west Turkey reaching European Thrace January 2007. Most recently A-Iran-05 has been found Bahrain. To east it recognized Afghanistan (2004-07) Pakistan (2006-07)....

Abstract Livestock farming across the world is constantly threatened by evolutionary turnover of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) strains in endemic systems, underlying dynamics which remain to be elucidated. Here, we map eco-evolutionary landscape cocirculating FMDV lineages within an important pool encompassing Western, Central, and parts Southern Asia, reconstructing history spatial over last 20 years that shape current epidemiological situation. We demonstrate new variants...

The present study describes the pathogenetic mechanisms of myocarditis in 9 lambs that died a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak Samsun, Turkey. In all heart samples tested, ELISA and sequencing for phylogenetic analyses showed virus, namely O/TUR/Samsun/05, was associated with PanAsia pandemic strain virus (FMDV) type O. had myocardial lesions but no typical vesicular lesions. situ reverse transcription many cardiomyocytes some interstitial cells were positive FMDV Inflammatory infiltration,...

Phylogenetic analyses of foot-and-mouth disease type A viruses in the Middle East during 2015-2016 identified belonging to A/ASIA/G-VII lineage, which originated Indian subcontinent. Changes a critical antigenic site within capsid viral protein 1 suggest possible evolutionary pressure caused by an intensive vaccination program.

Abstract Background Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) causes significant economic losses in Turkish livestock. We have analysed the genetic diversity of 1D sequences, encoding hypervariable surface protein VP1, isolates serotype A and O collected from 1998 to 2004 order obtain epidemiological immunological information. Results The coding region 33 20 isolates, obtained outbreaks FMD between 2004, was sequenced. For A, we confirmed occurrence two subtypes IRN99 IRN96. These are most divergent...

Phylogenetic studies on foot-and-mouth disease viruses (FMDVs) circulating in the West Eurasian region have largely focused genomic sequences encoding structural proteins that determine serotype. The present study has compared near-complete genome of FMDVs representative circulate this region. (ca. 7,600 nt) were generated from multiple overlapping RT-PCR products. These amplicons belonging to serotypes O, A and Asia-1, including members O-PanAsia-II A-Iran05 lineages, Group-II Group-VII...

This study describes the expression of heat shock protein70 (HSP70) and alpha-basic-crystallin (α-BC) their association with apoptosis some related adaptor proteins in pathogenesis foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV)-induced myocarditis lambs. Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious animal that causes devastating economic losses. The trade of live animals and derived products only possible if the exporting country free from disease, according to World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) code FMD. One most important ways prove disease-free measure levels non-structural protein antibodies (NPS) FMD virus in target population sampled. For detection status herd, mass screening assays such as Enzyme-linked immunosorbent...
