Abstract This study examines brain functional connectivity in both cognitively normal seniors and patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to elucidate prospective markers of MCI. A homemade four‐channel near‐infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) system was employed measure hemodynamic responses the subjects' prefrontal cortex during a resting state, an oddball task, 1‐back verbal fluency task. Brain calculated as Pearson correlation coefficients between fNIRS channels. The results show that...

This study aimed to assess transabdominal placental oxygenation levels non-invasively. A wearable device was designed and tested in 12 pregnant women with an anterior placenta, 5 of whom had maternal pregnancy complications. Preliminary results revealed that the level is closely related complications pathology. Women were found have a lower (69.4% ± 6.7%) than those uncomplicated (75.0% 5.8%). step development point-of-care method continuously monitor fetal health.

We propose a simple, rapid, and nondestructive method to investigate formation, accumulation, degradation of met-myoglobin (met-Mb) myoglobin oxygenation from the interior porcine meat. For experiment, color photos attenuance spectra meat (well-bled muscle, fat, mixed) were collected daily perform colorimetric analysis obtain differences between 578 567 nm (A578-A567) 615 630 (A630-A615), respectively. Oxy-, deoxy-, concentration changes over storage time also calculated using Beer–Lamberts’...

Microbial induced calcite precipitation (MICP) is a geochemical process for ground improvement by enhancing the mechanical properties of soil stratum. A bacteria and nutrient containing liquid are injected into sand to precipitate formation calcium carbonate crystals through metabolism microorganisms. The in pores between grains sand, effectively cementing particles together filling pore volume, consequently, increasing shear strength reducing permeability. However, functioning MICP method...

We have developed an integrated wearable to monitor skin temperature, blood and tissue oxygen saturation levels, respiratory rate, pulse rate. The was tested during different breathing exercises including breath holding, paced breathing, hypercapnia. Preliminary data showed a consistent agreement between measurements from the with signals measured commercial system. In addition, level at subjects' chest corresponds better exercise than arterial fingertip. This result demonstrates capability...

Large diameter monopiles supporting offshore wind turbines may experience loading at a range of rates during their lifetime. The preliminary study reported in this paper investigates the effect rate on monopile monotonic and cyclic response silty sand, which is considered equivalent to sand full scale. Tests were performed was subject lateral height above soil surface, with results suggesting no significant difference load-displacement behaviour due rate. Some changes failure mechanism...

Diseases such as sitosterolemias, familial hyperlipidemias, and hypercholesterolemias are characterized by unique dermatological manifestations, including eruptive xanthomas xanthelasmas. Although these conditions relatively rare in dermatology, they hold significant implications for cardiovascular health, potentially leading to fatal outcomes atherosclerotic disease, acute coronary syndrome or hypertensive encephalopathy if untreated. These diseases particularly notable pediatric...

In this study, we propose a new approach to measuring tissue oxygenation with near-infrared spectroscopy using single source-detector separation. This method is based on the difference in absorbance at three wavelengths before, at, and after isosbestic point. The accuracy of measurement multiwavelength was tested Monte Carlo simulation spatially resolved spectroscopy. Tissue calculated from separation similar one two separations method. suggested can help simplify oximeter.
