Adiponectin, an adipose tissue-specific plasma protein, was recently revealed to have anti-inflammatory effects on the cellular components of vascular wall. Its levels were significantly lower in men than women and human subjects with obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, or coronary artery disease. Therefore, it may provide a biological link between obesity obesity-related disorders such as atherosclerosis, against which confer protection. In this study, we observed changes adiponectin body...
Background Approximately 40% of pancreatic tumors smaller than 2 cm are missed at abdominal CT. Purpose To develop and to validate a deep learning (DL)-based tool able detect cancer Materials Methods Retrospectively collected contrast-enhanced CT studies in patients diagnosed with between January 2006 July 2018 were compared individuals normal pancreas (control group) obtained 2004 December 2019. An end-to-end comprising segmentation convolutional neural network (CNN) classifier ensembling...
Evidence shows posttransplant antibodies lead to renal allograft failure, but does the time elapsed between transplantation and antibody development impact survival? This is first study showing importance of when appear.Serial sera were collected during 17 years (1991-2008) from two groups patients, one whose failed due chronic rejection containing 25 patients (230 sera) a control group consisting graft functioning (305 who matched by transplant date patient failed. The median follow-up for...
Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is a metabolically active visceral fat depot. Its distribution asymmetrical and primarily concentrated in the grooves. To date, it remains unclear which measurement of EAT best reflects its metabolic risk.We aimed to examine correlations between various multidetector computed tomographic measurements EAT, syndrome components, plasma levels high-sensitivity C-reactive protein adipokines. This study included 148 consecutive patients undergoing tomography prior...
Higher harmonic generation microscopy (HHGM), combining both second- and third-harmonic (SHG THG) modalities, is a new paradigm for in vivo noninvasive virtual biopsy. With the ability to achieve noninvasiveness, high resolution, penetrability at same time, HHGM promising tool future diagnosis of skin diseases. In this paper, we report our preliminary pilot clinical trial results on biopsy human...
Psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis are common erythematous-squamous dermatoses that may present with scaly erythematous patches on the scalp. Owing to similar clinicopathological features of these dermatoses, their differentiation poses a diagnostic challenge, particularly when lesions scalp isolated. To evaluate usefulness dermoscopy in clinical psoriasis dermatitis. This was retrospective observational study characteristic dermoscopic dermatitis. The included total 96 patients lesions;...
The clinical implication of the coronary artery calcium score (CS) is well demonstrated. However, little known about association between lower extremity arterial calcification and outcomes.Eighty-two patients with symptomatic peripheral disease (age 61.0±12.4 years) were followed for 21±11 months. CSs, ranging from common iliac bifurcation to ankle area, analyzed through noncontrast multidetector computed tomography images retrospectively. primary endpoints this study amputation mortality....
We performed in vivo THz transmission imaging study on a subcutaneous xenograft mouse model for early human breast cancer detection. With THz-fiber-scanning system, we continuously monitored the growth of mice. Our not only indicates that can distinguish from surrounding fatty tissue, but also with high sensitivity. will encourage broad and further investigations future screening by using system.

Background
Obesity is an increasing health problem in developed countries, where the prevalence ofHelicobacter pyloriinfection decreasing. Recent studies suggested colonization of stomach byH pylorimight affect gastric expression appetite- and satiety-related hormone patients cured ofH gained weight. It was hypothesized thatH pyloricould be a contributing pathogenic factor childhood adult obesity.
Methods
To determine whetherH linked to obesity,...
BACKGROUND In the past 4 years, weekly 24-hour infusion of high dose 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and leucovorin in treatment patients with advanced gastric carcinoma has been prospectively studied at authors' institution. This enabled them to explore possibility that level expression thymidylate synthase (TS), target enzyme 5-FU, is related drug sensitivity 5-FU-based chemotherapy. METHODS To be eligible for this study, were required have received 5-FU chemotherapy (weekly infusions 2,600 mg/m2,...

We demonstrate a room-temperature-operated all-terahertz (THz) fiber-scanning near-field imaging system. The upright-type THz microscope has compact size, capable of being integrated with an optical microscope. This transmission illumination system could be promising tool to distinguish breast cancer from the normal tissue without pathologic staining.
Based on tissues from 20 female patients (mean age: 53 years; rang: 36-72 years), we examine the performance of a room-temperature-operated terahertz (THz) fiber-scanning near-field microscopy to diagnose slices breast tissues. The specimens were frozen sliced and then measured in thawed state without dehydration. We performed imaging at 320 GHz. Our study indicates that images acquired THz transmission-illumination mode can all clearly distinguish tumor normal H&E staining. Due its...
The first in vivo optical virtual biopsy based on epi-third-harmonic-generation (THG) microscopy is successfully demonstrated using Syrian hamster oral mucosa as a model system. Without complex physical procedures, epi-THG can provide high spatial resolution dynamic images of and sub-mucosa all three dimensions. intra-vital observation blood flow the capillary could be promising tool to image angiogenesis, which an important feature for many human diseases including malignancies. system...
Those taking proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) might have a higher risk of acute kidney injury. The long-term safety, especially the PPI-associated chronic disease (CKD) is subsequent concern. This study explores potential relationship between using PPIs and CKD in Taiwan.Using database collated by Taiwan National Health Insurance programme, we conducted population-based case-controlled to identify 16 704 cases patients aged 20 years or older with newly diagnosed 2000 2013. controls were randomly...
We introduce a comprehensive screening platform for the COVID-19 (a.k.a., SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia. The proposed AI-based system works on chest x-ray (CXR) images to predict whether patient is infected with disease. Although recent international joint effort making availability of all sorts open data, public collection CXR still relatively small reliably training deep neural network (DNN) carry out prediction. To better address such inefficiency, we design cascaded learning strategy improve...
A subset of sporadic gastric cancers (GC) exhibits microsatellite instability (MSI). To define the precise role MSI in GC, a total 100 patients with GC were classified into three groups, i.e., high-frequency (MSI-H), low-frequency (MSI-L), and stable (MSS), based on 10 markers. Mutational analyses TGFβRII, IGFIIR, BAX, MSH3, MSH6, E2F4, MSH2, MLH1, TP53 genes, methylation protein expression MLH1 MSH2 performed correlated. Twenty-seven percent showed at least one locus could be further graded...
The benefits of laparoscopic appendectomy appear to be controversial. Since 1994, several abdominal procedures have been completed by using the needlescopic technique, but there no prospective studies demonstrate perceived appendectomy. authors compared open, laparoscopic, and in a randomized fashion with regard duration surgery, length hospitalization, analgesic dosage, surgery-associated complications. From March July 1998, 75 patients admitted at emergency station authors' hospital final...
